Telsin the Knight of Fury

Hey,

Its time for Telsin to be retired. This is completely due to my lack of available playtime to play a 'serious' character at the moment. Playing an angry, drunk fire giant berserker is just a lot of fun.

I did enjoy the fire berserker combination - as usual strong in some points and weak in others. While I love the berserker class I do have doubts about its viabaility - the lure of this class has always been rage with the large hit/dam meaning you didn't need as much equipment as say, a warrior, to compete in melee. However, this period seems to be over - I did markedly better when I had equipment (even using rage). The offensive capabilities of a berserker (in practice) seem to be very blunted against many of the classes out there. Even with a dirted opponent (with fear on them), 117% in a weapon somtimes I could not inflict enough damage to prevail.

There are a few class match-ups that I feel berserkers win 'for free' but mostly its a very hard slug with the class. Even with my cabal abilities there were times I never felt I could do better than break even. Sometimes battles were simply a lost cause from the outset.

A few shout outs:

Meph: Several nice interactions. Was always good to see an elder who eminated a sense of malice without having to be tool and enforce it ALL the time ;)

Istendil: I honestly am surprised someone managed to play a character this way - very nicely done. I may have misjudged you when I gave you that 'spray' (PM me if you want my side, but I sense its all good between us). I hope you keep on with what you're doing. Frustrating as all hell in the first fights (before I worked out what you'd done with the build) - I seemed to get it together in our last encounters. Would have been interesting to see how it turned out. I now believe paladins are an example of a match zerks should be easily winning that no longer exists (IMHO). I know your 'build' was a large part of this but I doubt it was everything.

Thran: Zero chance against you. In the past I at least rated myself as a 10-20% chance win vs your race/class. I don't think I had even that much this time. I had a few things to try but in the end was completely outmatched. Good job.

Volg: Thanks for the change in Nexus and Trusted. It really meant a lot to get that. My RP was there but I did have some issues getting it going.

Others I interacted with: Had some good times (espeically drinking at the Tavern  ) Its hard to let go of this character - he really was a great deal of fun.

Cabal warfare: Bearing in mind I've had two characters back-to-back in Nexus now I've found a common thread: Most players seem to play defensive and 'not to lose.' Over two lvl 50s (both got to Trusted in Nexus) I've had nigh on zero pressure due to cabal warfare. Almost no one can (or will) hunt me, when they find me they will not press any attack if they aren't 100% in advantage (this includes neutral positions). Mostly (as I'm 1 V X players in my timezone) its multiple people at an altar (with my item) and only chasing once they have hurt you knowing you can't stand and fight (which, lets face it - any newbie can do).

Until players decided to put the pressure of hunting back on player like myself find cabal warfare VERY easy. Whether you have my item or not - if you cannot kill me you can never win a war against me. I think many players need to put more stock in (or have it enforced...) killing off vendetta'd cabals. This does not mean sitting in your cabal so you can be ready - rather hunting down opposite members. Try chasing and looking for player in the realms once you have their item. Honestly, when I can sleep eight rooms from opposing cabals guard for two ticks unmolested (with two defenders at the guard...) we (as a playerbase) all need to have a long hard look at ourselves. This wasn't a one time occurance either.

I'm not leaving the game (dont' fear  ) but won't be playing a 'serious' caballed character until I can get the time to do so. I suspect in the next month I'll feel the itch so perhaps I'll get another in shortly. If not look for me in ranking area's helping others get to lvl 50.

Cheers,

L-A

I was wondering where you have been. Being out of town so much lately has kept me from being around nearly as much as I'd like to be so I probably missed you of my own accord. We had some fun fights. At least you cannot say I did not come a looking eh;) I look foreward to your next. I think you are due for something non-pure-melee though.

That being said, I agree with your statement and that is why I think that characters who fight as underdogs against multiple enemies should gain promotions much faster.

they do, that is the quickest way to trusted no matter what cabal you are in. I can PROMISE you if your in nexus or savant you will get trusted very quickly by fighting against insurmountable odds. I say so for those two because I have experienced it first hand
