Pali
"A" is used before any words that begins with a consonant, with the exception of words that begin with a silent h. "An" is used before any words that begin with a vowel, with the exception of words that begin with u being pronounced as a y such as unicorn, and the exception of words that begin with o being pronounced like a w like one. We like to think of English as an easy language with simple rules... it really, really isn't. Give the non-native speakers some slack.
