Balgashang
So what was the reasoning they can't be paladins/dks?
mmajunkie
They used to be. Then they weren't. "Balance" reasons.
Balgashang
yea but...in what way? I'm just curious, paladins can't bash, low mana as a stormie, sure on water they'd be doing alot better, but the dk's would lose thier fiery weapons bonus/low mana
Dale
I personally would love to see this added. Even taking some class restrictions in the process. FG dks with lvl 10 malforms would be ungodly.
f0xx
A fire giant DKN = gimped demon, with mental and ice vuln, much lower mana & mana regeneration (which would be a major problem for a DK). Not to mention he wouldn't have iceball. It has its advantages but it is nowhere near ungodly.
Pali
Personally, I find the idea of any giant using something as complex and requiring as much mental focus as magic to be somewhat odd... but then, I've also never liked the addition of clerics/shamans/healers and the removal of dks/vamps from Savant. Storm paladins I do think would be a tad too powerful as a base combo, assuming the race and class kept all their bonuses intact. The greatest threat a paladin has is laglock, and storm size means much better bash resistance (storm size + mounted combat would pretty much negate the concept of bashing the paladin to death - it's already not as easy as it sounds). Sure, under certain circumstances it'd still fall nice and fast, but that's true of every combo anyone's ever called overpowered.
Jedi_Donkey
I'd have to agree with Foxx for once, and prolly the only time ever. Fire DK is a bit more of a gimping than an empowerment. I'd rather have an avian. An Undead or Demon are much better than Fire. If you are a fire, god forbid you forget flying, lose it in combat, or are dispelled cause here comes a triplock for you from hell. DKs already aren't an amazingly powerful melee class compared to many so...No thanks on Fire DK. Storm Pally, yikes! Like was said just a moment ago, unbashable paladins, oh yummy. Croyvern
Storm Paladins would be too large to use the skills they need. Mounted Combat, and Goliath. Both of which have developed since they were rebuked by the Paladin guild. If my old memory serves me.
mmajunkie
My last character Xyliana was a DK and though I didn't get to spend much time with it at 50, I never found that DKs needed a lot of mana. You either land mals easy, or you say screw the mals and switch gameplan. Just like fire clerics can be VERY nasty, I'm sure a well played fire DK would be ungodly. There was a storm pally not too long ago who used goliath just fine. I say we do it just to see how it pans out. I'll make an FG DK and prove everyone wrong on their gimped-ness. As far as storm pallies being unbashable.. meh, hello cleric, hello healer. Hello anything with protective shield. I don't think they'd be OP. You know, I can problably roll a gnome BLM and woop a few people. That would not prove anything though As I said, FG have their +/- sides. They are NOT gimped. They are not Godlike though. They are just a demon with a lot of vulns and downsides As far as storm pallies being unbashable.. meh, hello cleric, hello healer. Hello anything with protective shield. I don't think they'd be OP. Lol, what kind of logic is that? So just because clerics and healers have p-shield this means that hybrid class should be unbashable too?
Jedi_Donkey
I disagree with that. Taking bash away from the arsenal against paladins would be a huge disadvantage for anyone with bash/bodyslam and other lag skills. 1 major problems of paladins is being laglocked by a giant. That is how it should be, cause paladins would be pretty OP otherwise.
Dale
When were storm giats made unbashable? I've been bashlocked with a demon fg ogre and stormie. So this is nonsense.

Pali
Mounted combat + goliath + magic strike already drastically lower the reliability and utility of bashing - giving the paladin giant size on top of this would make it nearly useless. The extra str of a storm giant also opens up the paladin's weapon selection a great deal more.

mya
Hooo, the mighty 2 handed exotics. Paladins have: Swords, which the good ones are almost all 1 handed. Polearms, which can never be 1 handed. Exotics, that every class knows how to defend. Short of Arctron there is no other that is 2 handed. Maces, which are the most interesting ones with Icebite and Solar mace...
Balgashang
So...how unbashable is a human paladin with enlarge, they still smaller then giants? I'm with dale, I guess, to, I suck at pk cause I get bashlocked as a paladin, with mounted combat, although I haven't played a paladin or dark knight since they added magic strike

Hello Steelfeather Exotics - Soul Forge is 2h I believe? Maces- Ancient sceptre, power hammer...great maces Unless you were trying to talk ONLY about 2h weapons....there were some holes in your information :-)
