Sandbox
do immortals check who's bountying who because i seem to see a lot of bounties on my characters that have not made any enemies yet. Seems to be a lot of OOC bountying going on. I can't and don't intend to point the finger at any one person but this should be more closely watched, when you have a bounty pop up and you have detect invis and hidden and you see nothng but good aligns on in ur pk range and your a goody there is something clearly wrong. Aulian
Goody bountying goody is strictly illegal. However even the smallest reason could warrant someone to bounty you. eg: 1. You have a ring I want. I'll bounty you on the off chance I get it or you loose it in the fight and it enters circulation. 2. I dont like elves, you're an elf so you're bountied automatically. 3. You're a goodie/evil - I will have to fight you in the future so why not make your life hell now. You're bountied. I dont think it works with Merchant these days, but when Korthian and I were running KBS I would have anywhere between 250k to 4 million out on bounties. Just to help the rares circulate and give me product for onsell.
Sandbox
placing a bounty to help rares circulate is a good example of ooc abuse to be honest. you should only place a bounty if your character has a legit reason to want that person dead. Would every character have someone murdered over an item? If so thats a bit sad.
Dale
Being bountied is no differant than cabal warfare. Just stay quick on your feet and you'll be okay.
Mindflayer
Back when Tribunal had an alliance with Syndicate, we'd bounty random people to keep the Syndicate happy and they'd keep their beatings out of town. It's not all OOC like you think.

Dale
I thin you should have taken this to the prayer forum, not sure what you're point is.
Nekky
Also, people put down bounties in order to distract the Syndicate from the price on their head. They don't even have to know you.
The-Nameless
If I am evil, and you piss me off, I will be trying to kill you. Why would I not toss down another 200k, or 50cp, to make sure someone else is doing it too while I am not. As a neutral I cannot kill you because you annoy me, or because I want to. But anger will cause me to use the proper modes to end the annoyance. If my favored enemy is illithid, and your illithid, why wouldnt I want you dead at all cost? He seems to be talking about characters, who have no RP reasons to want him dead but still place bounties on his head (because they want his EQ or whatever other OOC reason). Sandbox, if you have such suspicions, simply report them to the immortals and they will investigate it. In FL, most of the time things are not exactly how they look. As on bounties in general, people will place them for a wide range of reasons - from doing a favour to a friend (IC), to trying to distract a syndi from going after their own bounty, to hating your character for whatever reason, to wanting your EQ, to trying to make a friend with certain syndi and so on and so on I can think of thousand good RP reasons. In my opinion you are simply annoyed you are constantly bountied. I've seen a fair number claiming to know when and who puts bounties on their heads which have been wrong. In the end people will believe what they want and if you are not open minded towards other opinions you might find yourself stuck. Not just that, but there are quite a lot of ways of dealing with bounty hunters via RP tools.
Implementor Anume Posted October 27, 2010 Implementor Report Share Posted October 27, 2010 You're good, the guy who bountied you is evil. See no problem there, Sandbox. If you are a goody and suspect another goody bountied you (or even a neutral you think has no reason to), let us know and we'll look into it. Goody bountiying another goody will lead to outcast. Hilltop
I want membership benefits for all the bounties I place! A free toaster for first timers and after 10M you get a platinum card with discounts and frequent flier miles. (casts flight)
Sandbox
Given the number of bounties I've seen lately there should be a black card for some people. Lol kinda makes me want to roll a syndicate atleast I wouldn't have a problem with being bored.
