Killing a merchant

Well since Croyvern was a drow merchant (it was my RP) I have to say it seems justifiable. Some of the Merchants carry an extreme amount of coins, any chaotic or evil follower of greed might be well within their RP to kill them. Why would the pbase or immortals either one have a problem with someone killing a merchant, when it is obviously fine to kill heralds?

Add to this, when Foxx, have you ever asked permission to roll somebody? JK Foxx, you know I love ya. But seriously, I have often wondered why merchants are not killing richer merchants. But thats just me.

I had considered killing merchants' date=' then decided regardless of if you can justify it for personal gain, or other factors, your only taking away from gain when you kill chars designed to enhance RP more than PK.[/quote']I would never sacrifice my personal RP, to enhance the game for others. Seriously, those merchants can kill you. Likely would if it lines their pockets. And you believe that its ok to do something out of character by not attacking a merchant, because it makes the game a funner place? Seems suspect, at best. But that again is only my opinion.

You can say it is OOC if you want, but if I have someone who is evil enough to kill someone for gear, I probably have more diabolical things to do anyway. If I am a gruff giant, maybe I just dont care for the gear enough to kill people. But preying on a cabal that: was implemented more for it's RP, to give gold value again, and to make consumables more accessable to the masses. Well your going to hurt members of that cabal which makes it empty. Same reason I dont kill Heralds (unless they start ****). I am here to RP and PK. I am going to do my best not to jeopardize my ability to do either. If I want merchant's gear I can *drumroll* buy it ;)

Merchants are expected NOT to pk heavily without prior provocation. If you provide the provocation, they are allowed to retaliate.

If you attack a Merchant, you should expect a hefty bounty as well as no more deals with any Merchants at all (until the problem with that merchant is solved).

Anume, you do such a good job in not answering my question :P

For me Heralds > Merchants.

But I will not attack a merchant, unless I have a very strong reason to do so.

In my view from a RP angle, there is no reason to not attack them. But from a OOC gameplay mechanic I understand their importance to the Mud.

So they get complete PK immunity from my characters, as do all Heralds, and most Druids/Healers.

But that changes, the moment they take aggressive action against one of my character, or I perceive evil intent such as: circumventing their PK limitations by getting other to kill for them; placing bounties; inciting Murder to get items to sell.

Newbie merchants like the lovely ninja might get 1 kill to cut the attitude. Veterans like the Druid Prince would get a full on Feud until I calm down.

Scaaaaaary! She might attack me using the "P" for an axe and the "O" for a shield. Ray me to death!

Depends.

If some opposed cabal kills me and full loots me, I shrug.

If someone collects my bounty, I shrug. Nice Workout.

If some assassinates me. Bastard, freaking OP skill. Rant on boards.

If some Herald kill me out of the blue. Rage!!! I go roll a Syndicate just to kill him.

Merchants are the bomb.

Anywho, check it-

threats, and war inflate prices,

this is war, and economy....

That is the Merchants job,in

To deal and wheel-

but your Rp, should not be hidered.

regardless- they serve a function.

stop hatin, use all of these words to build some epic snuff in the playing enviroment.

I've always viewed merchants as far as IC perspective goes as NPC's that could kill me if they so desired, and if they do I'm gonna go all flailing fists at them. But I would prefer if they liked me and gave me a discount once in awhile. Also, they'll deal with me if I ever get outlawed. So I like them better than city vendors.

Besides, they buy stuff from me. :D

Now if one of the merchants said to my current main 'Hey, this guy attacked me. And he took the gold that I was going to give you.' Well I'm dumb enough to believe that, so I'm gonna go pull a Mulao on that guy. And probably be about as effective at killing him as I am with Mulao. (I hate how you can't attack that guy, I dislike extortion for a stupid stone. It's a ROCK) :D

Kill them. I myself will have no problem placing 2+million gold bounties on your head' date=' and/or killing you myself as much as I can. :)[/quote']

Half of the time I place bounties on myself so eq pinata's aka Syndicate Members will find me. Everyone says that its easy to kill someone and get eq - well, how much easier is it when that person actually comes and find you!!!

So, open season on Merchants then? :P

L-A

PS - if you can't see the sarcasm here you need to try harder.

PPS - more seriously, if they weren't meant to be killed they wouldn't be in the PK range. As has been pointed out - there could be 'side effects' as to what happens when you start cutting down Merchants though. It would suck in future cabal war to have them supplying only your enemies and refusing assistance to you cabal unless they 'fire' you.... Laugh while you can.... ;)

And posts from L-A are the main reason i still read the forums when i play. He's always blunt very amusing and i usually agree with him 100%. I agree, kill them to your hearts content, but that doesn't mean there aren't consequences to your actions, that don't have to come in the form of IMM punishment.
