Croyvern
Wife and kids all read all the books. Wife and kids have seen every movie. I have yet to read a page. I am not interested in any of the movies. Are the books or movies really worth my time? Do not lie to me, if I waste two hours of my life for crap, I will find a way to get even. The-Nameless
Honestly Croyvern the HP books are a fantastic series, that is very well written. It does target a younger audience, but not so heavily that it loses appeal to adult readers. If you enjoy the fantasy genre, I would suggest it. I liked almost everything about the HP series. Except spell names. Those sucked.

Do not lie to me' date=' if I waste two hours of my life for crap, I will find a way to get even.[/quote'] Having read Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft, and Dark Sun series most of my young life, I scoffed at HP when it first came out. But in all honesty, I promise you, while it's targeted at a younger audience and appears simple, it has a way of appealing to the shiny eyed child hiding in all of us that just wants the simple happiness of wonder and magic. Read it, just don't be disappointed when in later books as they get longer it almost feels at points as if she's dragging her feet when she's writing. jekyllvhyde
After I saw goblit of fire I went to read the next book which I thought was Half-Blood Prince so I read that. It was really good, it was a page-turner which is how I define whether a book is good or not. Also, I agree the spell names suck. If you want to see a movie with BAD*** NINJAS, WIZARDS, CRAZY CONCEPTS FOR USING MAGIC, EXPANDING STAFFS which help you polevault from building to building and many other crazy cool pieces of EYECANDY check out the movie "Goemon". I promise you you will not be disappointed, if you don't like it I will magically somehow give you your 2 hours back. Edit: I JUST GOTTA EMPHASIZE HOW AMAZING the movie goemon really is. It's a newer japanese I think it was film with amazing special fx and concepts like using magic to switch clothes with anyone in pictures or photographs for example. Balgashang
Dragonlance Ftw. Raistlin is one of the best, well-developed anti-heros I have encountered in my time spent reading. Edit: Start with the soulforge, brothers in arms, (think there's a sequel to that one, but its been years) Then hit the chronicles, and the test of twins series, I think thats it in rough chronological order, which is how I like to read my series when I can.
