So, I believe that us here in the FL community are all very intelligent (well you guys are...) people and also are obviously creative from descs to all the crazy rps going on.

I'm wondering how many of us play instruments.

I just did an open mic the other night and covered a few radiohead tunes as well as "Faith" by george michael. I just love that song, so catchy.

I'm a singer/lead and rhythm guitarist.

What about you guys? I've met a couple drummers from FL.

We should get an FL band going!!!!! lol

Clue me in on how intelligence and playing an instrument go together?

As a matter of fact, clue me in on how creativity and playing an instrument go together?

I don't believe there's a direct relationship, but I don't play an instrument. ;)

I write Aabahran related songs. It takes creativity. I add melodic guitar tunes to give them a forsaken lands feel. It takes intelligence to do the math. Finally, Rev, I have never known a Dio fan who did not sing his lyrics, and the voice is an instrument. ;)

Side note. December 6th, NBC, the Sing Off returns. I believe this was the most entertaining thing I watched last year on Television.

Go Croyvern for answering stuff for me.

But yeah, I'm very creative and my medium is Music. I write music/lyrics and all.

It does take Intelligence to learn an instrument, at least well in my opinion. I don't think anyone who can play an instrument is ever dumb, as there's a lot of memorization involved.

Valek, maybe you could use your creativity and intelligence to maybe learn...the kazoo! JK

Guitar primarily' date=' I live with my band in Austin, tx. I play bass, drums and piano too.[/quote']

Yeah I remember you saying something about that. I used to live in Houston, never visited austin but I know it's a huge music hub. That's a great place to be if you're trying to get discovered. You have any youtube videos of you guys playing?

LMAO! Yep, you're the Man on the Silver Mountain all right.

And I'm getting pretty good at singing Dio songs. :D

Almost 20 years as a guitarist. In that time I have learned to play bass well enough to comfortably sit in with just about any genre. Same with harmonica. Played piano for a few years as a child. For the most part I gave that up long ago, but can still manage a few basic arrangements. I also dabble with drums and sax somewhat, but would certainly place myself somewhere firmly in the middle between beginner-intermediate with those.

For styles, since I mainly play guitar and vocals, I like to play SRV, most things by the Eagles, Cream, Buddy Guy and Allman Brothers stuff. If I've had a few more beers than usual and am feeling mellow I tend to start digging into more country/contemporary styles, Willie, Waylon, Darius Rucker, Jack Johnson, etc.

For the record, my wife is well aware that if it were possible, Carrie Underwood would in some way join our marriage, lol. Such beauty and passion.
