The-Nameless
I just dislike when someone takes an adamante stance against something that more than likely they have no experience with. I severely doubt Mya ever offer praise to "da gods wit da herbs mon".
Mali
Although I support legalization of MJ, and many of you know my opinions on its usage, some medical concerns both acute and chronic are worth looking into 1.)Smoking MJ has acute cardiovascular effects including tachycardia (increased heart beat) and in some users contributed to ventricular arrythmia and stroke. Thus, users with pre-existing heart conditions should think twice before abiding. Similarly, those accustomed to panic attacks should be aware of these changes. 2.)There are reports of bullous lung disease (similar to emphysema) after long term chronic usage. As nameless noted, lung damage can be minimized by reducing combustion through vaporizers or edible products. Similarly, smoking anything can contribute to chronic bronchitis and other respiratory conditions. 3.)It's illegal, so Dale, not a good idea to post about it. Especially in light of the fact that you have a kid. It could negatively reflect on you for any future custody battles. Drugs and cars don't mix. Drugs and guns don't mix. My final point is that this is a forum devoted to a videogame, some users of which are under age, therefore perhaps these posts should be redirected to a more adult oriented forum. It's true alot of the negative effects of MJ are overblown, but on the other hand it does have negative effects which users should be educated about. And, as mentioned, its legal status should promote caution for those posting about it on public forums. This isn't a personal attack on anyone, so please do not personally attack me in response to my words of caution.

The more it's talked about, the more weed use is treated by people in a similar manner to alcohol use (fun if you're not stupid about it), the more likely it's illegal status is to change. I severely doubt Mya ever offer praise to "da gods wit da herbs mon". Neither have I. I do smoke copious amounts of marijuana, but it has nothing to do with that kind of hippie nonsense. Mudder
At the same time you don't have to try something to know it isn't "for you." Heck, I bet the majority of people have never tried heroine but we would all agree it is bad for you. (I realize this comparison isn't the same. It is purposefully exaggerated to make the point more obvious.)
The-Nameless
I just don't like taking an adamant active anti anything stance without experiencing the other side of your argument. You can't talk to me about the side effects of cancer, without being near someone who has gone through it for example.
Mudder
Then, by your own logic, if Mya has been close to someone who has smoked weed she is then authorized to speak about it.

jibber
I'm going to agree with Mali, here. I don't have much more to say because he pretty much summed it up. I'd also like to say I have nothing against people smoking it -- I just won't do it. As for this being a video game forum, I do agree that this kind of stuff shouldn't be posted here because of the audience our game invites. Imoutgoodbye
Don't forget that one in a million people are allergic to it. Almost killed me.
The-Nameless
1 in a million is actually used to describe a freak occurance "It was a 1 in a million chance" so I think more people are allergic to asprin.

Pali
I actually do. Good. I hear a lot of "I have no problem with it" statements from people who still don't care to have it legalized, and I was hoping you wouldn't be one of them. As for brain growth... if I am remembering right, there was a study a while back that showed a small relationship between a THC-like chemical (not actually THC, but it is very similar and attaches to the same receptors) and increased neuron production in mice brains. Basically, all this study says about THC increasing neuron production is that it's worth investigating, not that it actually does anything for sure.
