Imoutgoodbye
So, in 1994 I found this Thundercats lunchbox, one of the old metal ones from 1985 when the show was real popular/new. I bought it for $20. It's got a little rust on the edges and a slight dent on a corner. The thermos was not with it when I found it. The pictures on the cover, back, and sides are still in near perfect condition. I know they're remaking the Thundercats next year. New animation and everything, blah, blah, blah...whatever. Anyone know what my lunchbox might be worth by the end of next year? EDIT: Checked EBay...all the ones on there are in worse condition than mine. Funny how the highest priced one is the one without a thermos. Terrible place to gauge the price.
KRins
The rule of picking... always at least double your money. Online auctions also tend to just be more secondary pickers... you need to find someone who is individually interested in it aka a collector. Collectors pay best because they don't plan on reselling. mya
So you have a 16 years old Lunch box and you pretend to double your money? Know that your 20$ 1994 Lunch box translates to 29.53$ 2010, inflation wise..
Imoutgoodbye
So you have a 16 years old Lunch box and you pretend to double your money? Know that your 20$ 1994 Lunch box translates to 29.53$ 2010, inflation wise.. I'm aware of real and nominal values, Mya. However, since no one can time travel, what I paid back then does not count as what I gain now. Value now is value now.
mya
It's not that. I checking if you where losing money. Hording stuff, is risky due to inflation.

Lailanni
And being an annoying know-it-all can be risky due to the back of someone's hand who just doesn't wanna hear it anymore. And Valek, I think that's pretty cool and if I was a thundercat fan and/or collector I would probably have no problem dropping a good $40-50 on a lunchbox in near perfect condition. mya
Are you threatening me Lailanni? Because that is what it sounds like.
KRins
Her point is you obviously have no clue about the concept of "collections" or "antiques"... At a certain point, things become MORE valuable for being older...provided they are well maintained which this lunchbox seems to have been. If I were you Rev, I would consider making an appearance at a comic convention... people go to those with the express intent of seeing and purchasing comic book/cartoon items... which means a Thundercats lover (Lion-o is a boss...just saying) may be there with a blank check and commerce in his heart. The-Nameless
I would suggest taking it to a local comic store, and whatever you do rev DO NOT try to "clean it up" a bit. Most of the time your going to do FAR more bad than good. But any old americana like that will fetch a price. There are people buying that kinda stuff. I sold an old mint condition Voltron lunchbox, metal and all, for like 50. Which is way more than I payed for it at christmas when santa gave it to me. Kyzarius
Your going to hear.. "If it was complete, it would be worth something" No thermos, and it is rusty, I doubt you will get what you paid origionally. Condition, and completion are the two biggest variables. You say its in ok condition, but it still has rust. You also say it is not complete. If the item in question is in c10 condition AND complete, then you hae a chance at selling it for more than you paid, though anything less than c7 (rust usually brings anything down to this point), and you might as well keep it. Considering it is incomplete AND rusty, that would be more of a c5 which is typical back of the closet condition, and sadly worthless. currently on ebay.. http://cgi.ebay.com/1985-THUNDERCATS-Lunchbox-and-Thermos-/310282267141?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item483e43aa05 is a box AND thermos that is going for $12.50. Lailanni
No, I just think you are unfamiliar with the saying, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” I’m not sure if you’re socially stunted or just have poor use of the English language, but since I’ve been back on the forums I’ve seen nothing but negativity and a holier-than-thou attitude from you towards others. It’s like some screwed up mating between Data and Q, spewing forth useless facts with superiority you haven’t earned nor deserve. Back to the topic, I think KRins is right about a con. Perfect place to find collectors of “nerdy” memorabilia. Or even a comic book store or card shop, I know I’ve been to some that also do consignment of collector items. If you aren’t strapped for cash though, I would just keep it. Even if it’s not an investment, it will at least be a fun item to show your kids how barbaric we were back in the day, eating cold lunches out of metal boxes with cartoons on them. Implementor Volgathras Posted December 29, 2010 Implementor Report Share Posted December 29, 2010 “If you don’t have anything nice to say' date=' don’t say anything at all.”[/quote'] Curious to offer such advice only to ignore it yourself. I think many of the forum users can benefit from devotion to that adage. This is a forum where people are free to express opinions. When someone is attacked for theirs, whether due to concerns for validity or otherwise, the quality of our community suffers. This is something that loses us current and potential players. If you disagree with someone you are free and welcome to express your own views, but do so politely, without hostility or 'flaimbaiting.' Consider this a warning - any further instances of attacking someone for their opinions will be met with a lengthy forum ban.

Lailanni
I’m sorry, in the future I will strive to be more polite in my opinion of Mya, since I am entitled to it. And if one was to worry about losing current or potential players, I would think the person who consistently posts in a rude and condescending way towards others would be more of a threat than the person who posts one negative thing in defense of someone who is often a target. But this is just my opinion, which I am free to express in a polite manner.
