The-Nameless
is it the 7th of january, and there are already no rares in? Emerald sword? Thin handled spear? Platinum ring? Old brooch? did that rare thing reoccur?
mya
Black Heart Cane Frigit Staff Kesrick Helmet Marmalade Orbs All crap, all gone. It's even worth playing the game like this?
The-Nameless
**** yea. It means when you disarm and sac my weapon, its only a sharp glaive. Nothin says fun like a suit of solo'ed gear . Having boots of protection is fun, because you can solo to get them back. Having boots of spell absorption is fun, but ultimately it frustrates me because its not the easiest to get back
Mmm Coffee
Until the purge system no longer requires chars to log in, this problem will continue. It's sad that people feel the need to hoard **** on chars they never play.
mya
Be glad for boots of protections being still available. And the purge system no longer requires it. It's the rare number that has been drooped from previous years values.
Zhokril
Will run a purge of inactive chars within the next couple days. Haven't done it yet this month.
mya
Zhokril ever considered a two tiered rare system? Frankly, I don't even care about all gear desolation gear, and with a exception of a few pieces (nodrp shield) I hardly even bother getting any of that. But when I cannot get my Helm, or my black heart as a Pinacle, it really detracts on my will to play. What i'm trying to say, is that perhaps a different number for Common rares in opposition to factions rares could solve 80% of this problem. Pali
...I find it very funny that on the one hand, we get people complaining about how EQ-dependent this game is... and on the other, whenever that EQ isn't around and people are forced to fight in lesser EQ, we get complaints about it not being around. Personally, I'd love a return to the days where not every c/c has a cursed weapon and shield, and where not every melee has 60/60 and -40 saves across the board. I was talking to someone the other day who explained themselves as being in that situation (60/60 and -30 saves across the board), and my comment of "wow, you're decked" was met by a rebuttal. That really blew my mind.
Mister E
I think a moderate Paladin or Cleric could do very well, try a smurf Mya. EQ is not the be all end all. I still think some combo's in GOD suits are too unkillable, especially with the easy access to life insurance though. Not having the EQ you want is not a good reason not to play though IMO. There is always something around that isn't terrible, even if it isn't rare.
Imoutgoodbye
Picked up an old brooch and thin handled spear two days ago. Mine. Deal with it. EDIT: School starts on Monday for me...what exactly is happening with rare purges anyways? What's considered active?
mya
Hardly need smurf Clerics. They hardly die. And Clerics have ways to compensate cursed weapons lacking. No way on Paladins. I tried a new one 3 months ago, ended up dieing laglocked and playing something else. "Not having the EQ you want is not a good reason not to play though IMO." It's not having the EQ you want. Is about having the minimun eq to play at 50. Like fight a Necromancer with a uncursed weapon, it's suicide.
f0xx
Not having a cursed weapon is like the last problem for clerics Mya, you should know that.

mya
Monk, Thief, Ninja, Blademasters can do OK without cursed weapons. Warriors, Zerkers,Rangers will have a harder time. Clerics, can also do OK, without Cursed weapon. But they are better with a decent weapon that with hands. Battlemages in my opinion need a cursed weapon (Sword or Mace), and in some cases as vs Warriors/Rangers having a cursed STAFF can make turn a fight. Pitty that ATM we cannot get the nonRare EAST cursed sword (safely). And the SOUTH one is to risky to get. Invokers, I have mixed fellings. No drop staff is a must. Essential vs monks/blademasters. Cursed staff vs any warrior worth his salt. Shamans. Belssed Marmalade orb all the way. DK's have malform weapon. Paladins IMO need a cursed sword and nodrop shield. Which thankfully is most of the times in. And Nameless, are you sure you do not own a no-drop Dragon Slayer? I would be careful, a Warrior without at least no-drop weapons (Demon Spear and Blade are unRare) can be easy prey to a Thief. Blackjack, steal weapons. Pry weapon, Pry weapon. Open backstab or with trip. Autotrow on escape, chase with Murder. Thieves are so easy.
The-Nameless
Im positiv I dont own a dragon slayer. You should always be careful, even with your ideal eq. Its not the easiest to BJ someone now days, and in most circumstances it does not ensure a kill. You have to be smart, and think outside the box. Otherwise your just Nermal on your way to the andes mountaints.
