Pali
Scientists have recently discovered the first direct evidence that thunderstorms create antimatter above them. EDIT: Video here.
Imoutgoodbye
Well, I guess it's a good thing thunderstorms produce so much hydrogen and oxygen. Just in case anyone was getting the idea they were being bombarded by gamma rays, no, the antimatter comes back into contact with the earth's atmosphere and there's a....hhmmm...how to say...neutralization. Antimatter collides with matter and all is normal if not less quantitative.
Pali
For better information on gamma rays and antimatter, check Wikipedia - it's science articles tend to be pretty damned solid (a quick look over the sources should be sufficient to establish credibility). I just thought this a pretty cool phenomenon... thunderstorms create antimatter above them due to gamma ray bursts caused by the crazy amounts of ionized energy released during them? Reality is freaking awesome.
Imoutgoodbye
Reality is freaking awesome. So is the idea of an alternate reality. Fairly freaky to know that thunderstorms can cause this phenomenon. It's probably a good thing we haven't harnessed electricity completely yet. Forget the nuclear bomb. I have an antimatter ray gun! Whoo-hoo!
