Imoutgoodbye
Well, I'm breaking down today and headed off to the doctor's. I've lost my voice and my tongue is covered in green/white crap. Which would be okay if I was an MSU fan, but I'm not. It's just BS that I have to go to the doctor's to get a note to get time off work or face write-ups/suspension/firing from work without one. I'm already losing money from not going to work and now I'm dropping money into an office visit. Seriously, if it can work that way, the bastards should have to give me PAID leave when I get a dr.'s note saying I need time to rest since they don't provide me with affordable health insurance. Of course, the real kick in the teeth is I have vacation days that I'm not allowed to use as sick days and sick days don't exist unless you buy the outrageously priced insurance. Okay, I'm done bitching.
Implementor Anume Posted January 13, 2011 Implementor Report Share Posted January 13, 2011 Your system sucks Here you get full pay till a certain number of sick days and then slightly reduced pay I think up to 3 months sick leave without breaks. I'm gonna get my teaching degree, move to Europe, finish my Masters, and get the respect a teacher actually deserves. I've seen how teachers get treated in other countries, especially Asian countries.
Kyzarius
If I lost my voice and some fungus started growing in my mouth, I think I would go to the doc on my own....I know my wife would make me at least heh.

Here, we somehow manage to take proposals for universal health care and view them as creating Nazi death camps. I hate how stupid this country is... They are bad for your economical health. Except perhaps Spain. Spain is cool.

Half the country doesn't accept evolution (most of the rest still don't understand it), couldn't name the three branches of government (let alone what they do), is incapable of finding Texas on a map... oh, and let's not forget that Fox News is the most trusted news outlet in the country. f0xx
You have to earn your money here. Of course, that is what we all do when we are not sick. I really can't believe that your state doesn't cover at least some days when you are sick and off.
The-Nameless
State? You serious? Its on the company. Most jobs in the US are low pay, mediocre hours, and 0 benefits. I work in a sales type 1099 (I don't pay taxes each pay period, nor do I get paid hourly. Paid based on performance) so I have the possibility of not getting paid even while at work. Granted i like to think I am good at sales, so I rarely make no money.
Imoutgoodbye
Well, I already knew I had Laryngitis being that I couldn't talk. I was also diagnosed with Bronchitis and Strep Throat. Went to work to drop off my doctors note and the 17 year old niece of my boss's who can't even touch the register because she can't sell tobacco/alcohol tells me, "You have to find your own replacement. I've had that and it doesn't hurt that much to talk." I rolled my eyes and walked out. I don't care if they fire me anymore. I'm sick of working in a place where the boss allows nepotism to run amock and everyone has a freakin' medical degree. EDIT: I should mention this is the same 17 year old that last year was promoted above me to shift supervisor.

Pali
What does accepting the THEORY of evolution has to do with anything? Just as much as accepting the theory of gravity or atomic theory or the theory of a heliocentric solar system does - having an accurate understanding of the natural world and how it functions. The general lack of understanding of science in the American public is indicative of a general lack of proper education in the American public. We just have a different style. Going back to what nameless said it depends on the company and your education/profession. Working at the local convience store vs. working at Exxon Mobile. Insepiddeception
In my field we accrue PTO[paid time off] to use for whatever you like. If you're sick you just fill out the appropriate paperwork when you return and they apply PTO hours to the time missed. 2 weeks before christmas you can sell all your PTO time but 100 hours back to the company for a nice check that helps during the holidays. Its all dependant on your field and company.
Imoutgoodbye
European Government > American Government. Why? America's wealth sits with just 3% of the population and after careful consideration I have come to the conclusion that today's system is designed to keep a large gap between the social classes. Money talks after all. EDIT: What Pali said about capitalism in the next post. We're a diluted form of a socialist system to keep rioting from happening. We've got our own share of socialist programs as well (Social Security and Medicare being the biggest)... it's just a matter of degree. Our government is not a "capitalist" government... capitalism is an economic philosophy that can be integrated into the policies passed by our government in varying degrees, but capitalism is not built into the Constitution.
