A simple letter of thanks.

Dear Players of FL and the Immortal staff,

So far, I've been quiet on the topic, but it's gotten to a bad point now, so I figure I'll just explain it, since you guys are a huge part of my life, and have been for a very long time.

I'm really sick. Non-hodgkins lymphoma of the colon. They gave me a time limit. I'm also going through a divorce and have to give up my home, my friends, my dog and my whole life.

Stress upon stress upon stress. And spending hours immersed in a fantasy word, to detract from the woes of real life isn't healthy. I get so stressed because of FL, that it makes me throw up(a very unpleasant thing for me).

I love you guys. I love this game.

I've been here for 11 years, and I know for a fact that I wouldn't be who I am today without the game, and all the players.

I have nothing but respect for all of you, even those of you I don't necessarily get along with. Thank you for the time and energy that everyone has put into FL, to make it what it was for me. A better life than my own.

I'm not going to give specific shout outs, you guys know who you are.

Again, thank you for everything. God bless, I wish you all the best.

Sincerely,

Phil Stillings, the Perma-noob of the Forsaken Lands

Remember one thing: It is the bad days that show us how great our best days are. I am praying for you, your family, and everyone else in your life. Stand strong soldier. Doctor's are wrong all the time. I was supposed to have permanent involuntary tremors in my left arm... it is stable as bedrock as I type this. The human will and spirit are powerful things. We will always be here for you, both as a gaming community and as a sounding board if you need one. My AIM is always available if you need an ear.

I wish you good health when it can be so, I wish you happiness when it can not. Sometimes things suck, its just the way life is, stress is the byproduct of that suckage, throw it out like old garbage. The stress can only make things worse, treat RL like FL, pretend you are not stressed. It works for me. I have had cancer since before some of our players could walk. I live by a code that says "I may not win the race, I may not finish the race, But I will not quit the race. Its up to time or my opponent to beat me, I will not defeat myself."

Don't give up bro!

By the way, those time limits are -not- valid. I know several folks who have added years in defiance of them.

One person I know was given a time limit, and went on to die in a glorious fashion totally unrelated to illness, years past doctors expectations.

Mali speaks truth those time limits are a guesstimate and more detrimental to a patients mental status than good. Hope and positive mental attitude are every bit as powerful as the most potent of drug regimen there is. Keep yourself active and happy and things can pick up. We are hear for you as an ear to talk to, someone to laugh with, or h*** man you're not far from me we can go have a beer/tea/coffee/water[bleh] and BS

I'm sorry Frosty. Life has dealt you a rotten hand. Hugs.

My advice to you would be to spend as much time as you can doing the things you love with the people you care about. That will make a big difference in your quality and QUANTITY of life. Good luck and thank you for trusting us with this very personal information.

I guess I have sorta good news.

After spending way too much of the last week hooked to an IV, my test results came in. The first doctor I saw was right(he said I didn't have cancer) and the second was wrong(He said I did).

So, it looks like I don't have cancer. HOOOORAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!! now I can sue that *** for anguish!

However, I do have crohn's and colitis. Lame.

CANCER FREE FTW

Crohns is pure misery, but compared to cancer it is great! I have IBS which isn't nearly as bad as Chrons but kinda like it, so you have my sympathy.

Awesome man! See you can't always take a doctors word as set in stone that's why they call medicine a practice. I still believe time limits should be abolished. I have ridiculous stomach/intestine ailments but would definately rejoice if instead of cancer it was chrohns...it can with certain surgeries/injections/dietary maintenance be alleviated. To a certain degree.
