Getting Cabaled

Just thought I'd ask you more experienced players, or anyone who continually gets into cabals, for some advice.

As most of you know I played Fjell and when I deleted I was told by Marty that I was "all but the next one to be cabaled". I am still not entirely sure what that means, and as happy as I am for those who get caballed very quickly I am also curious as to how they managed it. I thought I rped well and I know I put in more hours as an inductee that many tribunals have in total.

I have a little more free time now and I have an idea for a char I would like to try so I would really appreciate any pointers on things I may have done wrong and things I may not have done at all that will help me get my next char into a cabal.

Thanks

Best way I have found to get in a cabal in short order is to take a look at the 'cabal scene' and figure out which cabal is lowest on members. That will be the cabal most likely to induct quickly, on average. Not necessarily the best way to go about making a character, but a good way if your only goal is to be in a cabal.

Seems to me the only thing you got wrong was deleting early. Getting into a cabal depends on many things, If your trying to get into an already packed up cabal the process will take longer and be harder. This doesnt however mean the other cabals are then easy to get into even if they are low on numbers. The best thing is to just rp your character, fight the day to day battles and await your chance. You may be given a test that even if you fail you can recover from with dedication.

You might get in a fight and win and impress your cloaked imm leader, you may have a complexed and well rp'd chat in the centre of town and impress you cloaked imm leader, there are many ways to get it done. Most Imms dont want to induct someone for them to delete in a weeks time as their heart wasnt in it. Be consistent and prepared to dig in for what you want and i dont think youll go far wrong. Good luck with the next one.

I think I understand you, as I have felt the same way. Some people get caballed very easily and quickly, as others have a harder time. When I played Kyantok I tried really hard to get into warmaster, it looked really fun and I wanted to see what they were like, but I kept getting pushed around and so I deleted too soon, afterwards they let alot of people below me in. Which made me wanna hit myself. But with Aeden I never even asked to get in knight, the message was just there one day so I applied. Aeden was also my first caballed char in a long time, since Cyclopant I think, and that that time I was getting cabals left and right. Mostly it is pk and rp experience, alot of people log on and just do nothing, they sit in the same room and wait for interaction. I know because I do the same thing, the trick it to get out there and make yourself useful, rp as much as you can into your pks. And always look and act smart, the smarter someone thinks you are the more useful to them they will think you are. I was sad to see fjell go, i liked him personally, though we never really interacted that much. I hope anything I said made some sense or helped you out, I have a tendency to run on with what I'm talking about.

Yeah, I do know what you mean. I think that Militia is also one of the hardest clans to spend a lot of time in too. At least what I gather from the other cabals is that you can almost act like you are in the cabal even when you are just in the clan. With the Militia you cannot actually do anything to help except report criminals, so to me a big part of the rp was sitting around town waiting for things to happen so you could report to the Tribunals. On the other hand it is hard for me to believe I was not patient enough, I did pinn twice and as I said I had over 200 hours logged as a Militia clan member and I watched as people soar by me in clan rank and then get cabaled. What I am getting from these replies is that it is mainly a matter of circumstance and probably some luck too. The right IMM sees you doing the right thing at the right time, or if you are unlucky they see you doing the wrong thing at the wrong time.

So is it safe to say there is no formula that will assure you a cabal position, but moreso a series of right moves that may gain you admittance under the right circumstances?

Go for syndicate or nexus. Be a pk beast and you'll get in quickly. I remember with melkhior the syndi imm told us that whoever kills that avatar battlemage first would get in. Fun stuff.

Oh, thats all I have to do

Problem is, I can't find my PK Beast switch, or i'd just turn it on :P

Hmmmm not always true. Some people who have gotten in arent PK beasts, and other who havent are more pk orientated. Ussually the cabal has two sides eh? One who likes politics and one who likes to make things bleed.

Sometimes you just gotta be patient, also there is nothing stopping your character being good fun if you dont get into a cabal right away.

39(241h) :P thats how long Ive waited and dont think i'll be inducted any time soon :P most of my other chars are nearly condied by about that time har har

Is that something else different from Justice, 'cause back in the day the way to get in was killing a wanted outside of town, or an outlaw anywhere. Particularly if no Justices were around.

There is plenty of ways. But the main point is to be dedicated, and know the cabal rules well (Tablet of commands - knights, Maxim - Tribunals, etc)

Considering cabal rules (restrictions what you are allowed to do, basically), I think that nexus and syndicate are easiest. Tho, I've never tried 'em...

Ensure you do clan quests werever possible. Although some people are inducted without doing any, and some aren't may not get inducted with doing tons, it certaintly shows a good degree of dedication if you're trotting off from whatever you're doing just to take a jug of Angel Delight to a citizen. Even moreso if it's quite a tricky quest (I respect anyone who takes to those faction of blood/magic quests..). I remember with Velyhn, I was just reaching the rank forties and another clan quest popped up, and I ran to do it. She ordered me to leave the quest to someone else and gain ranks, where I got inducted at about 47/48. I did TONS of quests.

ALWAYS stick to your Cabal's beliefs whilst you are in the clan. As a member of the clan, you are meant to be showing that you're a prime candidate to uphold that particular Cabal's cause/beliefs. I'm sure it doesn't look good if you're with the Sacred Oak and you're gaining ranks with a couple of recently Qclassed Vampires, or whatever. (Of course, there are exceptions to that rule..)

This is more of a personal view, but try to get involved with things. I see a lot of people in clans who don't interact with the rest of the clan/cabal much, if it all. I'm not saying chase your Cabal Elders about just so you can say hello, but where possible, RP and give people in your clan and Cabal something to remember you by. I think of the clan like an interview - why should YOU be inducted over any of the other clanners about? Give them a reason.

And above all, keep your head up. Don't go off your rocker if you get killed; is a Cabal Imm really going to want to recruit someone who going to get into a steaming rage and log/delete when they get killed, standard stolen and looted by an opposing Cabal? And you need to be patient. Induction isn't bound to happen overnight. Even if it takes hours and hours of doing the right thing, be patient and try not to get bothered about it. Cabals are a privelage in my view, and even if your first Caballed char is Caballed within two days of reaching pinn, and with another you're waiting a month and still not heard a peep, stick at it.

I follow those guidelines on all of my characters that seek a Cabal, and the only pinns I've not had caballed are two that I didn't stick around with long enough at pinn for whatever reason. (Don't mean that to sound like bragging, rather that it is possible for non-vets to get inducted).

#1 tip I can give you is be unique. Set yourself apart from the pack. There are always other people trying to join a cabal same time as you. You just have to make sure your char establishes him/herself in their clan. As well as try to make a name for yourself. 100% stay in character. No stupid slip ups. You really never know when an Imm is watching honestly. But good luck in getting into a cabal if that is really what you want.

Here are my 2 cents on getting cabal'd. As simple (or difficult for some people) as it sounds.......BE DIFFERENT!! When you are in a clan, don't just login, do clan quests, use big words on clantalk channel, etc. Create/Do something unique! If you are in the battle clan, for example, arrange organized challenge matches in a secret location where the winner gets a prize....or if you are in cartel, try to market different herbs to people who might not know the benefits? of them....those are pretty vague and somewhat generic ideas, but these are the things that will get you noticed.

Another thing, think of something besides "Greetings" or "Indeed" to say to people. Google is your friend :)
