Well, I was excused from my Speech class. Was set to give a four minute Extemporaneous Artifact speech. I was cold as ice about this all week. Couldn't possibly exude more confidence helping other people get ove their fear factors of public speaking.

I've given two lesson plans in EDU class this week, so I know I'm not afraid of standing and delivering in front of a group of people. All I know is I feel sorry for everyone I helped because I went first, hyperventilated, and woke up staring at the celing lights.

If they have toastmasters at your university, join it. Having had to facilitate meetings with up to seventy employees, I have had my share of speaking to groups. It gets easier every time. I ussually start with an intentional mistake, telling the group merry christmas in the middle of July for instance. Then I apologize and tell them I must have forgotten the date. It lightens the mood as well as making it easier to recover from any misspoken words or phrases later in the speech. Some say to imagine the audience naked, but lets face it there are a lot of people you do not wish to imagine naked before you. I suggest remembering that most of the people in front of you would not care to change places. We choose to lead, no one chooses the path the leader will take. Blaze your trail Rev.
