Dragon Age II

So, it came to my attention the game I pre-ordered (collector's edition) has been delayed for another month.

My question (which I have had no response from EA and GameStop has no idea what I'm talking about which is odd because they're usually quite knowledgeable) is this:

Does my pre-order that I placed in December include all the new "extras" they're offering with the game now? Because the pre-order when I placed it wasn't advertising all these extra in-game features.

March 8th for North America, March 11th for Europe. Hasn't changed since October. When I pre-ordered mine.

Yes. Free upgrade to the Signature Edition. (Ended 11Jan11)

Includes:

Apostate's Courage

Seeker's Bulwark

Adder of Antiva

Might of the Sten

Bonus character and missions

Downloadable game soundtrack

There's also the Fadeshear Sword for all preorders as well as The Lion of Orlais Shield.

I'm looking forward to this game, and it helps that I currently work in a game store.

Huh...I pre-ordered mine in December...could have sworn they told me it would be in February 3rd. Oh, well. Sounds good to me. Black Emporium included in this? Hmm? Hmmm? Tell me I get the Black Emporium!?

Now see. Look at this. Unfortunately I have to dash hopes and dreams. I know everyone here thinks I'm perfect, and they have every right to think this, but alas, I am not. I'm not 100% certain.

However, there is good news. Origional purchasers of the game get some additinal DLC:

A fighting Mabari War Hound

The Mirror of Transformation

Access to exclusive Magic and Crafting Stores

Now the reason I'm not 100% is that I've got conflicting news.

You get the War Hound when you buy the game new. You get the War Hound in the Black Emporium. So it's safe to reason that you will get the DLC when you buy it.

However, the official site goes on about 'Preorder and get ...'

So, while I'm not 100%, I can say that I'm 99.954% certain that you will be fine.

You can love me now.

The only preview of actual (I hope) game play I've seen is here ... Inclusive of some FMV's.

As for game play, DA seemed to be modeled after Neverwinter Nights 2, so the pause features came in handy for that series. On console, it's not needed nearly as much in my opinion. Nice when trying to fly through the radial menu, but generally could, and would, do without as often as possible. When you have found good synergy between the tactics you've laid down for your companions, you just keep control of the main character and blast away. Should go smoother. Depends on your play style, I guess.

Regardless, everyone has their little gripes. I could say that it probably translates a little worse onto console than on PC. Finding new codex entries on the 360 is a chore, and party battle movement is irritating when you have to walk each person to where you want them. THEN move to another person to set them down too. But that's my irritations with it.

That being said, you can't please everyone all the time...

I play on casual and so just leave my companions on default strategies so I can focus on my character and experience it for the story, not the strategy.

That being said, the fact that this game I can load my character's choices from Origins in and watch what that does to my current game play...well, that puts it WAY over the top for me.

Slightly disappointed the only race available is human, but factor in that magic spells can now do critical kills....well, let's just say I'm drooling. Need to renew my GI subscription. Missing it already.

Mass Effect 2 as re-released on the PS3 is a greater game than DAO port for the same console.

I won't be ordering because console users got JACKED on DAO 1 compared to computer users. The inability to zoom out and control all party members at once really killed the game for the ps3 system. It was necessary to pause, enter command for 1 character, unpause, switch character, pause, enter command, etc, and you never got a good view because of the inability to zoom.

Of course thats a moot point if you played on a PC.

Props to bioware for releasing ME 2 on the ps3 though, especially with the new engine and comic book intro.

this is exactly my experience.

My build actually bent towards soloing the game, to hell with your party members. Other than setting up massive combo spells like lightning storm(pause cast pause cast). I used arcane warrior and blood mage, an insane combination since you can wear the heaviest armor in the game while using unbeilevable defence spells. Blood comes with unstoppable crowd control abilities. Since your blood mage your hp not your mana matters, so you can use every aura you can think of. I solo tank and spanked the end boss and the old lady that turns into a dragon (forget the name).

So Mass effect is better executed on the ps3? How is the interface improved?

Yeah' date=' Mass Effect. That game I played when I wanted to go to sleep. *yawn* :D Never did finish it. What a bore.[/quote']

I loved Mass Effect 1 and 2. Mass Effect 2 is probably the only game I can say I played from start to finish in its entirety (all side quests and everything except the final playthrough, which was an intentionally poor playthrough trying to kill off my entire crew for a more interesting Mass Effect 3 beginning :D).

For those who haven't played it but enjoy the games, I'd highly recommend the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC for Mass Effect 2. Great continuation of the Liara-Shepard relationship, as well as expanding on the character of the Shadow Broker - and how it works out will alter the storyline of Mass Effect 3 (I loved the level of continuity based on character decisions from 1 to 2, and have fairly high expectations for 3 maintaining this standard).

Also, it has some truly awesome boss fights - for those disappointed with the battle against the Reaper at the end of Mass Effect 2, Lair of the Shadow Broker will be very redeeming.

Not to hijack the thread, but Mass Effect 2 for the -ps3- is a nice gesture towards those who own the console, because it was released using the ME3 combat engine. It's solid, faster paced, and doesn't require you to pause for every combat move.

The dialogue/rp is comparable to DAO, although it moves a little smoother as well, since you select responses in real time on a wheel rather than during a pause from a list of text. Your character has a voice and your responses flow into the conversation, whereas in the DAO model your character has no voice and the text responses are your verbatim responses.

ahh, I will have to get it then.
