Imoutgoodbye
Got a nasty freakin' cold again. My body decided to break down from all the extra stress and I'm getting the full immersion experience of being a sick teacher creating an in depth lesson plan for a final exam due in about two hours. But, what I'm thanking you for, Mali, is the recommendation of tea. It's helping me with my throat, I've gargled with warm salt water, and took a decongestant before I came to campus. I may not feel the best, but I'm not hacking green ectoplasm all over the people in the computer lab.
Mali
Glad its helping you, man. There are a variety of caffeinated, uncaffeinated, and herbal (my favorite) varieties of tea out there of every color and purpose with unparalleled restorative properties. A lifestyle including tea can go a long way towards improving quality of life.
mmajunkie
Where do you buy your tea from, Mali? I should own stock in Teavana by now.
Imoutgoodbye
I get mine right from Wal-Mart. Some stuff called Yogi. I like the Celestial Seasonings, too.

Mali
I've been to teavana before and they have some very nice blends, but like valek I am a grocery store warrior so usually come home with the mass produced stuff. As far as green tea is concerned, however, there is really no comparison between good whole leaf and the bags, and my preference would be for whole leaf if I had more access to it. For new tea drinkers, I would stay away from green early in the morning if you have an empty stomach. It goes best on top of something else. That said, I usually do not end up drinking green tea, and choose in favor of chamomile or fennel seed because of their specific digestive effects. The high end tea retailers don't have much to add to these blends yet that I have seen. As inscribed so elegantly stated, tea has many benefits even outside of illness. In the south, sweet tea is widely available and awesome, as long as it is not too sweet...
KRins
sweet tea with lemonade, and a hint of -cough- vodaka. we call it swamp water. I'm a rum man in mine... but whatever floats your boat. As far as "Damn I'm sick" teas. I love throat coat teas... not the GREATEST flavor in the world, but still amazingly soothing on a sore throat for longer than one would expect from a water based drink. Demiterracotta
Mali and I are apparently Tea buddies. I drink pretty much everything he's listed. And whole leaf green tea is WAY better.
