The Art of Videogames

The Smithsonian Recognizes 80 games in their new exhibit The Art of Video games. If you're like me then you agree this is the right move for video games and is long over-due. Now some of the games in the exhibit I agree with and some I think are just bad choices, namely Halo 3, but I still approve of this move and only hope it show those that don't agree video games are a form of art just how much art of all forms goes into video games.

A few of the games that will be shown include,

Pac-man

Phantasy Star

The legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time.

Metal Gear Solid (1-4)

Bioshock

Portal 1

World of Warcraft

And Heavy Rain.

Halo 3 used the same graphics engine as Halo 2 as such I see no reason Halo 3 should receive recognition if Halo 2 used the same thing. Also its not like the Halo 3 story was anything above and beyond amazing. Also Art is subjective in a sense, however not all art is subjective. Its like saying Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Which is true but Its also true that Beauty is not only in the eye of the beholder.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 did not share the same engine as far as I'm aware, and if you're going to showcase Halo at all, you'll showcase Halo: Combat Evolved. It's a widely shared opinion that Halo one at it's time had every other first person shooter beat by a LONG way.

Sorry but I'm deff a Halo fan.

But back when it was played by "kids my age" World at War was beast... I have yet to find another FPS where there are so many other girls playing.
