How's the Levelling scene?

Recommended Posts

BLM can use vuln weapons.

Holy for tombs.

Ice for centaurs+Kaddar

Ice/Fire for Demons in pentagram.

Which reminds me, we should rebuild the battlemasters blade area. No one hunts there anymore.

But one never knows. I was hunting in the elven valley the other day very well.

I love it when Mya gives advices :)

There's the pesky matter of descriptions...

I see no reason to "remove" 15 levels. It shouldn't take more than a few hours to get through those for those who would "skip" them anyways.

several hours of wasted boring *** time.

and a new character can enter at 15, with no approval, write a desc and type dcheck like anyone else.

people want change, they want improvement....but when changes get suggested the response is always the same "we dont do it that way" well its time to wake up to the reality of the fact that mudding is a dieing medium. This is one thing, that has been succesfully rolled out on different muds and will hopefully here result in more characters in an actually playable lvl range.

Enlighten me. What's boring about those levels?

EDIT: I would also add that said character would likely be unable to yell until approval was gotten to help prevent the "create/yell" abuse.

EDIT2: I will leave you to your suggestions and shut up then, rather than try to get more reasoning from you. My apologies. I forget that I shouldn't question. I will resume my proper place of not questioning.

What's NOT boring about grinding through 15 levels of what is most often solo leveling while trying to get the basic arbitrary skills of your guild.

While I can see the point of a shortcut like this, I also understand where Valek is coming from. Level 1-15, for me, the foundation stones that I build my characters on. What happens to the character in these levels, who they meet, what they do, or where they go all aid me in determining the true destiny of the individual character. But thats just how I roll.

Personally I would not like to enter the game at 15, with no background, no equipment, and at the Mercy of players who opted to take the extra time to learn. But to each his own, so I would not argue that this is a bad suggestion.

I just hate the lack of moves, and lack of funds for mounts, like its easy to quest through them, but I hate having to sleep, trying to do lerants quests for example

edit: And i'm stingy with my gold in low levels, clans being so expensive to join, well, not really expensive, but i like getting into a clan asap, and 30k is expensive at chargen/lower levels

should be a noobie quest to learn about mounts actually.

I wish I could see a log too, of those first 15 ranks with all this rp everyones talking about. Man 1 - 15 is spent trying to find a group, never finding one and using pets to lvl for me.

Not really in my opinion. Training and ranking' date=' while both time consumers, serve two very different purposes.[/quote']

Yes. One give you an opportunity to be a better PK'er. The other gives you an opportunity to add to the RP environment. What you do with your time is up to you.

So...

On one hand, you have a very logical reason to just give a pass on the first 15 levels. Other muds who are beating us in the polls are already doing it, as well. In reality, anyone who misses those 15 ranks could always opt to have them (via tutorial mode) anyways.

On the other hand, the game is built around attachment to your character. You get that attachment by struggling with them. Those first ranks set a solid foundation of "I don't want to do this again any time soon" so that you don't just delete and reroll all the time.

It is definitely a new school vs oldschool dilemma.

I'll throw my hat in the ring and say that adventurers could come at rank 15, so that it would speed up hunting for the vets (the whole pet thing) while keeping most stuff the same? Perhaps a horrible idea, but I am just trying to stop you guys from arguing. :)

Would not the same logic apply to getting rid of training skills/spells?

To a degree yes, the point though is not to get free uberness for being able to skip the 1st 15. Its not a quest to just get more lvls quicker (like those who make quips about advself seem to think), its more of a, hey lets compress the playerbase a little. Push more towards 50.

The 1st 15 lvls are a time of discovery, when you set your prompt, write your description. Learn the basics of mudding, explroe and find that backpack, do those same quests. Why not give players an option to skip it. What ARE you really giving away? Then we can get right to training, rping, lvling those lvls where you actually have skills to try.

lvl 1-15 does not give enough time for me to discover my characters true destiny croyvern. I cannot remember the last time I actually had a hunting group at lvl 1 either. Also, getting to lvl 15 takes any vet less than an hour, easily, with any race/class combo.

Lvl 1-5 newb arena.

I do quests till I can buy an alsatian.

Snails/oozes till lvl 10 or so, then get to 15 with the rest of your newbie quests or just kill imps/brownies whatever. It's a cake walk.

Even getting to lvl 30 takes no time at all. The slowest ranking is 30-42 and its not that bad. Once you hit 42 there are almost always some pinns who will help you and if not the medium guild quests give a lot of exp at this point.

I would be 100% for having a tutorial to replace the first 15, I also think the entire creation needs to be improved.

I say get rid of rolling altogether. Each race/class should have predetermined starting stats. This way there is the least amount of time for people to lose interest before they get in game.
