Acerbity
Your crush misses someone. Your crush misses someone. Someone's suction LACERATES you! You sure are BLEEDING! You flee from combat! You lost 10 exp. You can't see a thing! You yell 'Help! I am being attacked by someone!' You parry someone's attack. Someone's blast LACERATES you! You sure are BLEEDING! You parry someone's attack. You yell 'Help! I am being attacked by someone!' You block someone's attack with your shield. Someone's blast maims you! You sure are BLEEDING! You parry someone's attack. You yell 'Help! I am being attacked by someone!' You block someone's attack with your shield. Someone's punch LACERATES you! You sure are BLEEDING! You block someone's attack with your shield. Someone's punch DISMEMBERS you! You have been KILLED!! Something crumbles to dust. Something crumbles to dust. Something crumbles to dust. Something crumbles to dust. Something crumbles to dust. Something crumbles to dust. Something crumbles to dust. Something crumbles to dust. Something crumbles to dust. As the cold chill of death descends upon you someone grants you yet another chance. You have been granted a temporary sanctuary as an invincible ghost. As long as you don't attack anything. You feel less healthy. GRRR. You've GOT to be kidding me. See how many things crumbled, and how I died SO fast? Bull! I HATE STEEL! EDIT: Before sanctuary falls, I'm fine. When Sanctuary falls, I stop parrying/shield blocking like a pro. So.. stupid. Acerbity
Huh? Yeah, I'm flaming the hell out of steel. Those are mobs that killed me. I'm not flaming any characters -- Posting in the shoutouts woulda been pointless, and I just want people to see my pain. This isn't flaming anyone, besides the mobs that hit me hard and quick once sanctuary falls, and hit me like pansies when I have sanc, or hardly ever hit me. jb5679
I think when the mud was down yesterday, the rare limit got messed up like it did a few months back, so probably a good rule of thumb to uh....not die right now, hehe.
Acerbity
Well, I was at work the day before yesterday, yesterday, and all week last week, and only logged like an hour each night, or didn't even get on. How was I supposed to know!? Behrens, could you fix it again, -please-? This is just irritating me. I mean, a double plated HELM, and RUNED CLOAKS, rare limit reached? I don't think so.. Warpnow
I am pretty sure he's right. Game crashed. Almost every rare in the game came back. There are too many of each rare. First to die balances it :-p
Behrens
I've corrected it. It seems the rare limit was set low accidentally with the reboot. It has been reset to the proper value.

Dale
Yeah, I also died, thought I was just full looted, but now that I look at it just all my rares were gone... Grrr.
Raargant
A lot of old pfiles were purged, and so the rare count is set to normal again; it was abnormally high before the purge, about 2-3x what it should have been. You may find that your rares will continue to crumble for a bit, but this is normal.
Chayesh
On the flip side, purging REALLY old inactive pfiles will bring back many rares that have been missing and not purged from characters not logging in.
Guest Dogmeat
Wouldn't those ones be returned at the beginning of each month anyway?
Chayesh
Not if they don't log in their characters. If have a character named Dogbarf (like I do on test) and he's holding uber-shiny #102 and only plays 3 hours in a month he's getting rare purged, right? But have you noticed when you get rare purged? That's right. On next log in. If I never log back in, the rare sits there in my inventory until Behrens purges the old characters or the MUD auto-deletes him.
Mattamue
Oh noes! You didn't purge me did you? I was actually enjoying playing this blademaster.. 184 year old blm.. but still!
Warpnow
Wow. Chayesh...totally telling people how they can stock up on the rares being used against them... I know it already happens, but now everyone knows how. :-p
Raargant
You don't think we intend to let it continue, do you?
Chayesh
How is that telling you how to stock up on rares when if you don't play, you'll get purged the next time you log in anyway? If you do play, you didn't get purged. And yeah, Raar's right...since now the MUD allows about 75% less dead weight characters rotting in its archives. Warpnow
Just was pointing out not everyone knew that chars weren't rarepurged until they logged. If you don't know that, you don't know you can stock rares. And I am really glad you guys are doing something to stop this...I think there's a reason *cough*feral*cough* we didn't see the durindel for forever, and another reason *cought*shaman*cough* we didn't see a certain very, very helpful stave for a while. Acerbity
So that's what they did. Got high enough for the stave, got it from someone, and never logged on again. That's so.. trashy.
F-3000
It is. But there is people who can't fight the odds as they are, they just need to "cheat" somehow. Even if it requires stacking rares out of circulation.
Calron
Does the same thing happen with all the people who post their stats on the forums and ask for denies?
Behrens
Trust me, if I find that people are hording Durinals or any other rares JUST to never log in and keep them out of circ while they play a different char, they'll get punished. That being said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with holding onto weapons you fear so nobody can use them (dwarves and a certain spear, for example, or avians and a certain axe). That's perfectly good RP, and logical. Just kill them, take the weapon, and then kill them with it.
Chayesh
Does the same thing happen with all the people who post their stats on the forums and ask for denies? No. Our policy is that after you're denied we "forcefully recirculate your equipment."

If you want to keep an item away, use the char that benefits from it being out of circulation to hold it, right? I just want things to be clear...I don't usually horde eq.
