Lots of dragons around right now. If you think has somebody has a subpar desc, post it in prayer for us to check out. They are sometimes given out for RP, not descriptions. There isn't any favoritism going on.

If you want a critique of your own description, you could post that as well.

i will bite .

this one didnt get a dragon, I thought it could of!

Horror itself appears before you clanking and creaking. An armored

metallic monstrosity drips random fluids as its rusty joints groan and

crack with every movement, a deep moaning sound comes from whomever is

within. Perhaps a man, for it is man sized, this walking suit of armor

appears to be a functional implement of war though the design borrows

much it seems from the styling’s of an Iron Maiden. Over indulged skull

shaped iron buttresses weigh heavily upon the shoulders as a huge pair

of iron angel's wings sprout from the back of the slotted helm. even

the gauntlets appear obscenely heavy, iron ingots hanging from each

knuckle of both hands.

Burning red lidless eyes dart madly, visible only because of the well

placed slit in the otherwise over embellished helm. Aside from the

eyes, brief echoed moans of agonizing pain is all you have to indicate

this...thing...is human at all. The armor is made in the usual

segments, with one brutal twist. Each piece is joined by looping

chains of metal preventing any removal by whomever is held within.

From each blackened rust covered plate of armor a small wheel sprouts.

Like some kind of macabre spikes these wheels protrude all over its

surface. From the back of the head, three across the chest, each

shoulder, even the hands and boots offer this odd leverage for anyone

outside the armor. From the base of many of these wheels blood slowly

seeps and oozes, leaving rustic trails of crimson as it runs across the

tarnished plate.

His movement seems full of purpose, though his gaping wide eyes

indicate a seeping madness. Even as you observe some of the wheels

slowly turn as if tightening with every movement inducing screams of

pain and moans of agony from within this echoing iron prison.

this one DID get a dragon...back in the day..

The soft smell of incense and leather oils drifts to your nose as you examine

the drow before you. Blue black skin wraps itself about a thin sharp face.

High cheek bones and a sharp slightly elongated nose set upon the stage created

by a high slopped forehead and sharp yellow piercing eyes. A slight glimmer

reflects from the mirrored pupils betraying his races uncanny ability to see in

the dark. Gently slopped ears sweep back, breaking through his cascading

moonlit white hair, to end in pierced points set with small gold hoops. The

flow of silvery white hair wisps gently about his head as the impossibly thin

strands catch any errant breeze that might disturb their settling. His attire

is simple yet regal in appearance at the same time. A cloak of deep blue cloth

is clasped by what appears to be a burning blue sapphire possessed by a flame

at its core that despite all practicality flicks and flares as it gives off a dull blue light.

His torso is protected by stained leather, two clamshell pieces held at his sides by

thick cords of dwarf hide. His legs and feet require only passing inspection as the same

dark leather seems adapted for protection in both instances. His out step lined

with a crisscrossing pattern of the same thick hide, and his boots sewn of one solid

piece. Upon his waist rests a thick rope, like what a priest or cleric might use to cinch

their robes. The rope appears to have been singed and burnt by some unholy force

and radiates a smoky black aura that partially obscures the few small pouches that sit

above his hips. Hung from this belt is a coiled whip on the left and a heavy flail on

the right. Each weapon appears cruel and well used, the flails shaft showing a worn

grip fit to the drow’s oddly delicate hands, and the whips tip frayed and perhaps

even customized with heavy led balls netted in the deadly hide tips. Each hand is

laden with a pair of ruby rings that betray the status of his mistress, and upon each

arm is tied a leather thong set with what could only be described as the mark of house

DarVashar. He seems to ooze an unholy presence from his very pours and his stature

betrays a dark and deceptive purpose.

Honestly I like the new one better, only because it tells more of a story while giving the sense of what your seeing. While the second one that actually go tthe dragon reads like a recipe for drow. However the reviews disagree. I would love to see a critique of the new one especially.

I would like to see something new in this department. I have considered the Idea that we should have will o wisps, a light source, that has some random spell ability not unlike the dragons. Or perhaps signet rings, that allow for say shocking grasps(gimped) or vampiric touches(also gimped). This way someone writing an awesome description will not have to sacrifice their bow for the honor of sporting a prize they earned. Just a thought that has been haunting me.

Dragons have (and this is my opinion, based on my experiences) been given at whim. Tastes, styles, etc...go a long way toward helping you get a dragon. I've lost count of the ones I have had for A)Helping out on Newbie chat B)Having a good description and C)Showing exemplary RP. I've also had owner only items and a title for RP. Although, Right Hand Man of the Hell Bunny really didn't strike fear into anyone. :P

That being said, I don't think there's any one path to getting a gift from the heavens. Dragons are just something that tend to handed out from the heavens for descriptions, but much like PK, what constitutes a good description has changed. Our Brothers and Sisters hands have become skilled at forging an appearance on tablet.

I have personally not seen a dragon in four years. I have heard that dchecks can lead to dragons, but seldom do.

Yes, each imm gives them out for a desc HE/SHE esp likes.

Personally, I like descs that are extraordinary / uncommon or the exact opposite, a complete stereotype. Long does not necessarily mean good in my book.

I get paranoid about the dragon thing. I really don't think it's favoritism. I think it really is about WHO is doing the looking and HOW they are feeling at the time. (I've gotten three, and it's not like I'm an exemplary player with a huge history, I just get them for rolling what I'm thinking and already having everything in place when I settle the description on the shoulders of my character.)

My paranoia comes from the fact that when I DON'T get a dragon, I mull for days and days over my description trying to improve it, and sometimes I give up on the character altogether because apparently they weren't 'inspired' enough.....

I'm an odd duck.

Are we allowed to write descs for others? I'm more than willing to help write out a decent appearance but I know sometimes my grammar lacks the same enthusiasm.

Fact is... I love writing descs and making characters.

If there WAS a job to simply "roll characters" and desc them out I'd be yer gal!

*cheesy thumbs up*

Take me as an example' date=' I never had a dragon and I never wanted one.[/quote']

I'm not after a dragon-reward, I'm after a way to get past the description part without a freaky frustration.

No' date=' you may not write descs for other chars, what you CAN do is help them pimp their's up. (Proofreading, refining, etc)[/quote']

In other words, I cannot ask a desc for a certain race/class combo from Liadon (i.e. thru forum PM), and use that? :(

Why it's not allowed?

Is recycling of self created descriptions better option?
