Polk
I'm curious as to how exactly and elf can be nuetral. All I see there is being able to avoid some of your race vulnerabilities. Elfs = good enough said. If you do get your alignment changed, you should at least be outcasted? At least thats what it says in the help files. Also, thought you weren't allowed a qrace to avoid racial vulns... Wouldn't changing your alignment as an elf be part of that? If thats the case, I can't wait to see the new good vampires "if good vampires exist in stories, why not here right?"

Implementor Anume Posted May 20, 2011 Implementor Report Share Posted May 20, 2011 Agreed on the outcast for technical matters, NOT for rp involved. Edit: suppose he can rp it as an outcast from the (high) elven city society.
Sylvan
basic racial things still apply, no matter alignment. i.e. Elves can't touch iron. Racial weaknesses, etc. And Imms have been known to gimp a character a little for being of a different alignment. i.e. taking away something like envenom and ikuzachi for a ninja, or herb and weather spells for a ranger. so , in essence, the character still is affected as much as an OUTCAST flagged person is... but the outcast flag is more of an RP thing, for things like normal high elves cast out, etc. (correct me if I'm mistaken). and in cases like a quest race using another race's stat's.. since they are gimped anyway, do they necessarily need the (OUTCAST) flag? How are they outcast? from what society? if a neutral elf is just like every one of his fellow racial members, then how is he outcast from them? I suppose the argument there could be: He is outcast from the society as a whole. a total stranger, untrusted and shunned. hence, OUTCAST flag. opinions? Imoutgoodbye
As we've all seen from previous RP outcastings, it all balances and it's all fair. Usually leaning towards the gimpier side, though some would disagree (you can lose a PK just because you simply had your *** handed to you and it would have been the same even without the "oddity" of it). Let's not just focus on one factor. We've seen too many people abandon their Outcasted project far too often just from the complaining. I encourage this Neutral Elf to continue, please. mya
Not a outcast. It was a race change. Wood Elf =/= Elf.
f0xx
Not a outcast. It was a race change. Wood Elf =/= Elf. Exactly. He is not an elf anymore. He is wood elf. Besides, why do you think he lacks the vulns that normal elves have? Hmm?
Implementor Anume Posted May 20, 2011 Implementor Report Share Posted May 20, 2011 Changes that cross the base race's align usually go with an outcast, this does not necessarily mean that any gimping is involved. That is done on a case by case basis and will be heavier if the base race does not allow the class choice (not the case here).
Kyzarius
I do not see why if a person can create the story, the system should ever punish them. We want to encourage RP, then the creative freedom must be handed out to some degree. It labels them, but it shouldn't punish.
Implementor Anume Posted May 20, 2011 Implementor Report Share Posted May 20, 2011 What exactly are you even arguing against, Kyz? What I said, outcast does not mean further gimping is done necessarily.
Polk
So if I rp and write an appropriate description for a drow to be good, essentially I could join Knight? Just saying, the only reason it was done obviously is so he could join a specific cabal, if thats the case then it seems to me that exceptions are being made for some players to change the aspects of the game... How far are we allowed to go, or can that be discussed here?
jibber
Let's leave it at this -- You can RP anything and accomplish anything in the Forsaken Lands that's, at the minimum, believable. A drow turning good has been done several hundred times, but the drow would be doing only that, turning good. His race wouldn't be different. If you wanted a goodie drow-like race, it'd be best to start with elf. As far as the W-Elf, the best starting race was obviously Elf, since High-Elves are usually Elves, and W-Elf's are the woodland ones. So I don't think a drow becoming good -WOULDN'T- warrant an outcast. I'd expect that to definitely be an outcast. But say, perhaps, a drow going neutral and becoming a H-Drow, if believable, wouldn't warrant an outcast flag.

Sylvan
Just saying' date=' the only reason it was done obviously is so he could join a specific cabal, [/quote'] maybe his player simply wanted to play a wood-elf, since the game has no option for a neutral elf. Anyways, last I was logged in, I saw he had an (OUTCAST) flag now.
