yes, I usally wait till they get back from said faction, and gut them...trying not to get to much gore on the shiney gear they got for me.

Honestly though, you can get a pretty hefty suit going from all soloable areas...problem is, those items are the ones that are never around.

Well, tried playing the warrior class, haven't made it to 50 yet, however it seems this is way to hard of a class to start with "As most people said in the essays". However, I love the class and their skill set, and nice set of warrior lore options to choose from, but I can never find the gear to support it. I have ended up just running what I'm pretty sure is below 25 ranked gear for a lvl 40 warrior. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent just looking for new weapons and armor. But it seems a lost cause. Some people will gladly help you find some good stuff, but its never there. Is there a class besides the healer who can effectively fight against others without high end gear? (And where is this stuff at?!) I look at everyone trying to see if there is something better to get and my mind gos blank. :( You all probably think I'm am the biggest Noob, lol

As a warrior you can get almost all eq, even the high end stuff, alone. You should be fine in steel and even blood, just need a bit of help with deso and gear.

None of these are really absolutely necessary to get a good starter set, esp at 40.

Just ask some of the pinned warriors around to have a look at you and make suggestions as to what you should get. Personally, I usually get a suit around 30ish and then don't change much if any till pinned. Better not get a couple mob deaths to find some rare someone will just want to pk you for pre 50.

When I was coming up my warriors I usually got gear from killing other people. It took years to figure out where alot of the good eq was and even longer learning how to get there alone or with a group. Everytime I would learn a new and good piece of gear I'd roll a new warrior.

Really a warrior can solo most any area barring the insanely difficult mobs. You just have to be smart' date=' careful, and prepared. You have to have an escape strategy, and know when to use it. If you stick to your rules, and are careful about what you do then you will be fine.[/quote']

I would substitute warrior for almost any class in the game and the above would hold true imo.

Winter has alot of good equipment in the easy to get to areas, and most classes can solo all of steel, and blood I would imagine. I have done it with several.

Same with most of Dischord, the first part, not desolation. I forget which is which all the time. hah.

Get 2x Onyx bracelets from High Tower of Magic, Black apprentice. +0/+2 dam.

Get Rope climbing gloves from New Goblin Area, inside corpse in on watchtower. +2/+0 +2Dex

Get 2x Opal Rings +0/+2

Get a !Quest! Breathing device helm +2/+2, ask ppl in game.

Get a good spear. Try the Firebrand In Val Miran. Check the Massive foreman at the entrance of Duergar city for the gem encrusted spear.

Get a Whip or Flail. And a Crap staff.

Get arcuntus staff from the Tainted valley.

Get the Vain glory flail in Emerald/Everwild, under the church.

Get the fire whip from cell north of mirhuv.

Get a Shield. Mangled shield or chimera is fine.

Then know what class to use which weapon.

Mob's, use staff.

Zerkers, use whip + shield.

DK's use staff, double grip. Or Axe + Shield.

Blademasters, try Axe+ Whip. Try staff.

Always use a weapon they don't know.

If the class is a mage, get a detect magic potion and check when protective shield falls. Dance until then, then BASH!!!

If it's another class, just bash from start. Doing good?

Eat enlarge and bash harder.

You don't want them using spells/skills.

Keep watch for disarms.

Well this is basic gear and things. If you have this then we can try to advance to more dangerous rares, like Topaz+Arena gear.

When you are confortable with that stuff. Get a veteran to show you how to get a Topaz socket from the Volcano. You will die if you don't know what you are doing.

TIP: Take a recall to leave the Volcano. Have more 2 in backpack.

Then head to the arena. "31f9dv"

Try to get the +2/+0 SOCKETABLE RARE sleeves and Leggings.

Then "2h9c87" for a +2/+1 SOCKET RARE -1 DEX/STR gloves.

As a warrior(which is a class I have always enjoyed and played quite a few of over the years) I would certainly not be worrying about equipment too much before level 50. Focus on training all of your pertinent skills like attacks , defenses, bash, trip and charge, etc. One of the greatest attributes of the warrior class is the way that mastered skills "stack" (think mastered 4th attack, riposte or weapon mastery) in every situation.

Mastering all weapons(including hand to hand) is a must for a class dependent upon them. My personal favorites to keep in inventory/worn were as follows:

Polearm/staff vs other strong melees(Unless you obviously out-melee them, this is best tested defensively at first IMO)

Dual axes/spears vs "weaker melees"(Invokers, bards, liches, etc.) Highly offensive weapons against classes that DO NOT KNOW THEM!!!(Extremely important to the warrior class)

Rogues and clerics can fall in between either of those depending on the particular build of the character.

A good friend once stated this and I believe it (mostly) holds true:

High avg dam unknown>high avg dam known>low avg dam unknown>low avg dam known(obviously vuln weapons are recommended so long as the class you are using them against cannot easily relieve you of them.)

Once your get to level 50 and stick around for a while learning the best scenarios against EVERY class, then start to pay attention to equipment(If you are not already con-dead.)

I believe it was Calron who said that your best bet as a newbie at level 50 as a melee is to go straight for 50/50 hit/dam and only then start to focus on saves, else you will have the worst of both worlds. Not enough saves to make a difference, nor enough hit/dam to make them at least flee/run quickly resulting in poor results overall. My personal experience has always been much of the same for the diversity granted by such. High hit/dam will do well most often against other melees and will be a shooting match against other types. Moderate hit/dam with negligible saves on a melee will result in tougher battles against both melees and c/c's.

I apologize for the long winded nature of this post but things just started rolling off the tongue, so to speak.

Good luck, stick with it for the long haul, and warriors are an awesome class to play, particularly neutral ogres(Just be sure not to join a cabal too soon, before getting comfy with the char)
