Hit/Dam/Saves/AC

Depends.

I have found that smaller races hit more often, so damage is more important, while giant races hit harder, so hitting is more important.

On Kadrinath I ran around with about 65/85 as a moderate chacter, now I use about 45/55 with saves. I find that my hitting does not suffer much (damage is noticably lower :()

65/85 huh? lmao I'll never have that much hit and dam, near impossible for me

I don't see anyone with that much hit and dam now, of all the characters gear I have looked at...

On average thats at least 4 hit and 6 dam per peice of gear that you have not including your str... Only ever seen one peice with that much hit/dam on it itself... less your talking about a berk (shrug)

It's not all gear my man. Some of it is proper buffs, some of it is just who kadrinath is... it is never just the gear. The gear is the foundation... the cool TV in the mansion, the pool with the waterfall, and the guest house that would hurt your feelings if you even saw it... that comes from proper buffing.

yeah, all I see of that is, I'll never be able to stand toe to toe with anyone wearing that much hit/dam... lol, no wonder I never see me hitting as hard as anyone else... Well, I guess I should stick with the healer class and just rp the rest of my game time!!! :( how boring

Haha, thats all you had to say to discourage this newb from playing a melee class:P

Your first error is that you find the RP boring. That is the ONLY reason I bother coming here. Yeah, there are a crop of characters at all times that will shut you down or refuse to have any RP themselves... but those choice few people you interact with, be it friends, enemies, or just other folks, makes it worth the griefers and trash that happens from time to time.

Your second error is allowing what others can do to discourage you. If they can do it, so can you. Pick their brains, identify everything you come across, smoke every herb, quaff every potion, recite every scroll. In fact, it is generally when they get to a level of power you and I would consider outright stupid that they get complacent and you can take a well timed, well prepared shot at them. If you win... you just become the Boss and they are looking up to you. If you lose... they will have a little less fear of you for the next time you come at them... and that could be all the edge you need.

Polk, roll whatever class really interests you and then try to get a 50 of that same class (if possible also the same race) who is doing well to teach you how. Most 50s will be willing to give you some help if you approach them early on (before you are in their range) and ask for advise, some will even take you in as apprentice / pupil / errant boy / whatever. ;)

Some are instilling in you that you should focus way too much on numbers here. I'd consider myself one of the better warrior players around and alot of those numbers don't mean squat when compared to strategy, tactics, race, cabal choices, preparation, knowledge of other classes weaknesses. Theirs a reason why naked warriors like Grum continue to get decked in the end without ever going through those gear places.

Also, if you are new being moderate is uber cool, as you don't get most of your armor gone when you die.

Bards are a good starting class. So are Clerics.

But you are fine with a Ogre Warrior.

Go challenge Warmasters.

Focus hit/dam and weapons.

You wont get 50/80, hell I cant get that.

But if you get 30/30 today.

Maybe tommorow you get 30/40.

Next week 30/50. Then next month 35/50.

It's small improvements as you learn new stuff.
