Erana
June 3rd, 2011 Log Update: 08/05/11 Crusaders can now apply normally to Warmaster instead of having to be manually set into the cabal. 09/05/11 Clerics can now select Praetorian instead of having to be manually set into the subcabal. 09/05/11 If you have more than five rares and are ruthless, two will randomly crumble on each death. Cabal, oownered, malformed, and mana-charged items are not affected. 09/05/11 Tour, Race, and Class helpfiles have been updated to be more useful for newbies. 09/05/11 Decoys will be targeted like a normal player and aren't affected by autoaim anymore. 09/05/11 When you are changed into a qrace with a higher exp penalty, your exp will be brought up to reflect your current rank considering that new exp penalty. 09/05/11 Autopenalties for expbonus will now include the target's name in the subject line. 17/05/11 Giant strength scroll in the Hamlet increased to level 10. 23/05/11 You should no longer receive a death tarot when you have the lucky perk. 01/06/11 You will no longer lose experience when fleeing. 02/06/11 Full race names for restrings should show up under their bio now. Pali
09/05/11 If you have more than five rares and are ruthless' date=' two will randomly crumble on each death. Also, does life insurance protect against it (IMO, people who are fairly perma-LI'd are the ones who need eq to crumble on death more than anyone else, so I think this fairly pertinent)? Kyzarius
09/05/11 If you have more than five rares and are ruthless' date=' two will randomly crumble on each death. Cabal, oownered, malformed, and mana-charged items are not affected.[/b'] so if I manage to kill someone, with more than 5 rares, I have less stuff to loot, and the best items they have for me...might crumble? that sucks.... Say you manage to kill that cleric with the nimbus of power....and it crumbles, and you're a class that cant get it as easy so the cleric just bids their time and re-obtains the item... f0xx
Why is the crumbing change implemented anyway? So people with LI lose rares sometimes too? Why not remove or tweak LI? I don't get it... that's just a lame way to address the problem.

Imoutgoodbye
I have no opinion on the change (yes, I'm playing Ruthless), but shame on people who automatically jump to assumptions!!!! Look at what Kyzarius did to poor Foxx-and it might spread like some kind of disease!
Twinblades713
I don't agree or disagree yet. Just the crumbling seems very odd. What about accidents, challenge bugs/spamkills, RP deaths. Seems like a strange thing to add. What problem is it addressing?
The-Nameless
meh. It is going to cause more rare circulation which is always a good thing.
Kyzarius
I am 50/50 on the change tbh. I see some good in it, but I also see some bad. good.. 1, people who run to their temples will still lose gear 2, gear/deso trips and such now have a higher risk associated with them (imagine a failed gear trip 2 items from each of 4 people!) 3, solo eq gathering just became very very very punishing if you fail. Pshield drops at the wrong time, you lost 2 items. 4, might improve rare curculation...might... bad.. 1, classes that rely on gear more will be punished more. 2, weapon oriented classes REALLY get hit hard since they could have an accidental mob death and lose that weapon + socket they took forever to get. 3, geting collected by a bounty hunter appears to mean you now have 5 items lost. 3 to the random fella that bountied you and 2 crumbles. 4, Casual players get hurt with this. I do not have time for many gear trips, so I kill people to equip, but now we have reduced the number of lootable rares. so if you kill a guy who has 7 rares, you have a 28.4% chance that the item you needed from his corpse will crumble. The-Nameless
meh, almost every area is a place any class can solo if they just take time. Primarily i feel this is *GOOD* because of a few factors. Firstly Life Insurance. You dont keep all your loot cause you stacked CP. This is good. Secondly you are increasing rare circulation, which is also good. For example if you had 1-2 things I wanted, and they crumbled anyway, you took the same loot anyway. Now if they are easy to get rares, go get them.

tassinvegeta
LI should just be taken away. This change does encourage rare circulation but also encourages people to be even more afraid of dying in situations where you wouldn't ordinarly lose gear. No more warmaster challenges, solo or even questionable trips to mobs for me. My opinion is that LI cost should be tripled and quadrupled in price depending on your cabal rank. It should cost maybe 500 for a T 1000 for an E and 2000 for a L.
f0xx
LI prize can be made floating depending on your rank, your enemy's rank, how many allies are present, how many enemies are present and so on... hell one can even include the deckedness your allies/enemies in the equation. There are ways to deal with the problem at hand, but having the game take EQ away from you while there is a mechanism that allows you to keep it all when you die to a legit combat is absurd. I will just quote Mindflayer who said earlier that this change simply makes him not want to log in.
Grim_Reefer
I support anything that makes dying at 50 suck more.
kaboomer
With a few of my characters, I've enjoyed classy enemies whose RPs supported back-and-forth battles. One of us would win, and the other would leave most of or all of the wares in the corpse. Then we'd go at it again for the fun of the fight. Can't really happen with the new change. Also, the other guys are right about it really hurting EQ-dependent classes. Also, imagine if the piece that crumbles is one of your extremely hard-to-get pieces (deepest parts of deso/dischord/gear). That's a major bummer for you AND the other guy who wanted to loot it from you.
Aulian
This sounds interesting? **** make it harder. Why the hell not? Want to be a pansy? Play the smurf. YOU CAN CHOOSE NOT TO LOOSE RARES. H.T.F.U.P.

Mister E
I'll take bets on when the first person will be slain for removing and dropping rares in less traveled places when they suspect they are soon going to die. I think the random crumbling is a very strange idea and I am surprised it has been implemented.
H&R
I'm not very fond of always losing EQ when dying either. It hurts newer players more too. Then again, I'm already too afraid to die with my dk as it is.
Aulian
Telling me newer players will have more then 5 eq slots filled atm? Hell I know these lands as well as anyone, and I cant find rares for anything.
kaboomer
This does only occur for ruthless. Maybe this is a way to push characters toward the mod tier. Can we apply for the mod tier right if we already rolled ruthless?
miskahn
So it has been agreed, if you die to a mob your rares will still crumble? accidental deaths like that shouldn't cause you to lose your rare, countless times i've died to something where i'm fighting it alone going, it's in awful condition i'm nearly dead and think I can do it, just a little bit more.... then I would get killed. So I would lose my rares, because i thought that I could kill this mob alone and died accidently.
