Flamma (Requesting Xbox Live IDs!)

My brief return ended in a great revelation tonight. Flamma can be denied, I'll log in later and cabal leave.

Tonight was very hectic with some battle members working in tandem and a Leader hanging in the midst. It had me cursing in game and then having an epiphany afterwards. The mentality that has been nurtured here over the years is sad and pathetic. But what happened tonight was the very roots of FL combat. You don't get to pick and choose your battle. You are not safe from being blackjacked by a thief just because the warrior you were fighting fled. No, it doesn't work like that. It is war out there. You don't get your hand held by the Immortals just because you didn't get a fair fight.

And yet we foster this atmosphere of calling people/tactics trash and garbage. When in all actuality, 9 times out of 10 the people calling people trash and garbage are nothing more but crybabies who can't put themselves up against the odds and come out on top, so instead they cry until the disadvantage is taken away.

What are you left with? Nothing much of worth.

I had a great time tonight dying 5 times, getting one kill, and putting a dent into the WM L. But listening to all the people calling everyone else trash, and garbage, full looting out of hate, etc. I realized FL is not the game I loved. It is something different and something I don't want to be a part of. Especially once I realized my first instinct was to call someone trash for a tactic I actually believe in. But because we're so used to hearing it being called trash and garbage, we've lost sight of what made FL the game we loved in 1.0/2.0. I don't want to participate in it any longer.

It was dog eat dog back in the day. When you were outnumbered 3 to 1, you didn't get to pick and choose your fights. Now its like everyone thinks they are entitled to a fair fight or a clean getaway and when they get put at a disadvantage they have to struggle to get out of...they bitch whine and moan and complain. And we foster this these days? No wonder things are the way they are.

I truly don't think anything that happened tonight was lame, but when I logged off my immediate reaction was "what trash". And then I thought to myself...that's how it should be. THAT was FL. The danger, the excitement, the skill/tactics needed to not only survive, but get a kill on the enemy.

I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. I fought with almost ZERO armor the entire time, managed to kill someone without aid in the middle of dodging two other enemies. I got killed a lot more...but I took the WM Leader down to big nasty while lagged out for 4 rounds and wearing only a crappy cabal outfit, no shield, and holy hands (vs a ranger lol)

What I'm trying to say is...thank you. Reminded me so much of when I used to love this game.

I wish you the best of luck. My new LED 3D TV comes tomorrow along with my Xbox360 Kinect.

Post your gamertags here for some frag lovin!

I've felt this before as well. I think it was with my first Demon. I got used to being so microscoped, I developed a notion of class that was not akin to what class used to be. I mean, you still CAN be a douchebag, but I think when it gets hectic everyone wants to pull out a microscope.

I remember my first character Skax. Worst bmg ever, but I grouped up with Felhara and Torav and we triple teamed Drayson at the Savant altar. I wasn't even on the forums at that point I don't think, so I had no notion of any societal version of class. Drayson would full me every time I'd die and I'd work to get my blue bracers back and start charging a pincer staff. (They were always in. Dance a notched axe and let's rock.)

But over the years I'd get talked to because I attacked a dk that attacked a healer a tick before, a healer which fled and gated mind you... Getting in trouble for consistently logging (Who cares? If you don't want to fight him, don't.) Looked at for everything. Receiving this, I'd get upset when other players wouldn't to my knowledge get looked at for the exact same things.

I respect the Imms, and especially this staff has worked to make this place flow REALLY well, but would I go back to how it was? **** yes I would.

Back when adeptus was a forgein planet and nightbringer (was it called that?) was the best offhand weapon in world because it let you dual parry when you didnt have the skill? Never mind the ave damage was like... 15 or something...

Ah them was the days.

Like when you would start calling the Tribunals mushrooms cause they would all 'sprout' into the lands together. Until you waded in killed a couple then they managed to cap you at your pit whilst fighting another... All while screaming at your screen at the injustice but realizing later that that was the very reason you played this game.

Oh those WERE the days!

EDIT: Things change though. I think... If we didnt full loot as much as we do... We could all get back into that. But seeing a month of work down the drain and then getting capped again and again can be disheartening.

This is where I think a change in LI could have good effect. You fighting multiple people... Keep on wading through cause you're granted a bit of protection from loosing your INVESTMENT (time is a commodity.) in a situation with difficult odds.

Now its like everyone thinks they are entitled to a fair fight...

I would generally agree, but since we are talking about WM, yes you are entitled to a fair fight, since that is basicly the foundation of WM.

Other than that, your behavior is very much like your avatar. Sometimes you need to take things easier. Flamma had great RP when he wanted.

And lol:

That must have been some cool voker-BMG char :)

I would really like clarification as to who called who trash. I sent a few RP oriented tells to you regarding our fighting. As well as you alluding to the fact that there was ganging. I did see you loot someone fully that you did not kill yourself.

I really disagree with it being insinuated that I was less than honorable. I had never engaged you until you pathed me. I wish you would reconsider since it is only a death. You cannot imagine what I dealt with after getting WM. I was fighting 2 and 3 on 1 vs opponents that where much stronger than me.

If you die (without LI), you should consider your equipment gone, end of story, regardless of who did the looting. If you make it back to your corpse and there is anything left, consider yourself lucky.

Also, I still have logs of my half naked demon warrior Tophet (first demon warrior EVAR!) fighting Vadigon, Feldor, and Siddion (very old school knights, for you younger cats, circa late 2001) at the same time. I died multiple times.... but that was how that game was meant to be played. You would die and not even bother returning to your corpse because you knew everything would be gone. You would grab the closest weapon you could find, and you would dive back in. If you didn't, your immortal would slay you. Granted, my immortal at that time was Mali... but those were the best mudding days of my life.

Dale. I completely agree with you here. I don't know how to put my finger on it, but you hit on what I wanted to say but couldn't quite put into words. I loved 1.0 and 2.0. Things would get stacked against you and you'd run with it. I think perhaps the major difference is in how cabals work.

There isn't the same kind of power peaks and sway that used to occur. It takes someone 20 RL hours to get standing in a cabal, and that's after you go through the clan and get the attention of a E or L enough to get promoted to where you can apply. There's less of an investment to train and rank, but the cabals seem to take awhile. I know Eriyad, Flamma, and Genrill were waiting for quite a while to even get inducted into Savant.

But such is the flow of any live game. It will change and morph itself, that is part of the beauty and the setback to such a game. So new blood comes in, old blood leaves. That's just the cycle at work.

ROFL. You're right. I was rigged and still sucked. Just used to playing vokers, after that one battlemage, I've never played another. D: The stigma kills me. Yea, rocking the pincer staff, not charged. ^____^

I remember the river wood, and that cool silvery-acid weapon at the beginning. If you got that weapon (at any level) you were cool ****s! Heh. And of course, the ancient staff of black magic, the staff of tears (or something, can't remember the name), S'handor's dark black blade, meh... Memories!

First of all I cannot understand why you bother to care what people think of your character, if you are so sensetive when someone calls you a trash or garbage, then play your xbox kinect.I myself wouldn't care if someone calls me names. You should be here to play the game and enjoy it, as long as you are not doing anything rubbish or cheat then you are not a trash.

When you play online game with other people, there are always conflicts with others, why?Because you have to deal with the behavior of real people, it is the same in WOW and in every other online game. The question is why you should stop playing the game you like only because someone called you something.Do not be so dependant on the people's opinion, play the game for yourself and your own enjoyment, get involved with your character and you will seee the full exciment of the game. You are a cleric, if you feel that you are getting overwhelmed, do not make so many enemies, speak to others, befriend them.I think that you are making so much enemies that you cannot take, which is always mostly the end of the char.

Wow... hey Dale? Thank you.

Being a newer player I have no idea what it was like "back in the old days" and I have only heard rumors but now that you and so m any others have said what it was like back then... I think it's very cushie soft, friendly huggles and kisses. Sure I've been killed, people took the easy kill and I in return got mad. My latest Drow Shaman (just turned shaman) was rage deleted because I felt that me being killed was rubbish when in every sense was legit. Prop to the Dark-Knight for that! Good kill good kill.

The sad part was I doubt he/she even looted me at all but I was still mad for the kill. *sigh* Now reading all that I regret what I did, and I regret how I've acted for a long time now.

*shakes self out* Alright, lets get back to the roots of the game. NO OOC chat at all anymore, on facebook on FL no where. It only festers "trash talk" which is actually quit disturbing, my Fiancee hasn't played yet because of what he seen on the facebook page. I will not mention any names.

But yes, lets just play the game. No high school drama, no better than you BS in OOC chat.

Lets just play the fcking game.

Again, thank you Dale! xoxo

You missed my entire point, well done. No one said anything about my char. My char never did anything that wasn't classy in PK. Maybe a few choice words, but no silly actions.

Kadrinath - wasn't you I was cursing. Our fight was clean.

Foxx - You must have never fought vs 3 WMs as a Savant back in the day. This isn't a rage delete or quit. Its a realization that this game is not what it used to be. What happened tonight would be labeled as trash. But it was the closest I've come to feeling like I was playing the FL that got so many of us addicted. Im leaving because I know I wont have many nights like that without people whining and complaining and making people stop.
