Tonight was very hectic with some battle members working in tandem and a Leader hanging in the midst. It had me cursing in game and then having an epiphany afterwards. The mentality that has been nurtured here over the years is sad and pathetic. But what happened tonight was the very roots of FL combat. You don't get to pick and choose your battle. You are not safe from being blackjacked by a thief just because the warrior you were fighting fled. No, it doesn't work like that. It is war out there. You don't get your hand held by the Immortals just because you didn't get a fair fight.

And yet we foster this atmosphere of calling people/tactics trash and garbage. When in all actuality, 9 times out of 10 the people calling people trash and garbage are nothing more but crybabies who can't put themselves up against the odds and come out on top, so instead they cry until the disadvantage is taken away.

What are you left with? Nothing much of worth.

I had a great time tonight dying 5 times, getting one kill, and putting a dent into the WM L. But listening to all the people calling everyone else trash, and garbage, full looting out of hate, etc. I realized FL is not the game I loved. It is something different and something I don't want to be a part of. Especially once I realized my first instinct was to call someone trash for a tactic I actually believe in. But because we're so used to hearing it being called trash and garbage, we've lost sight of what made FL the game we loved in 1.0/2.0. I don't want to participate in it any longer.

It was dog eat dog back in the day. When you were outnumbered 3 to 1, you didn't get to pick and choose your fights. Now its like everyone thinks they are entitled to a fair fight or a clean getaway and when they get put at a disadvantage they have to struggle to get out of...they bitch whine and moan and complain. And we foster this these days? No wonder things are the way they are.

I truly don't think anything that happened tonight was lame, but when I logged off my immediate reaction was "what trash". And then I thought to myself...that's how it should be. THAT was FL. The danger, the excitement, the skill/tactics needed to not only survive, but get a kill on the enemy.

I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. I fought with almost ZERO armor the entire time, managed to kill someone without aid in the middle of dodging two other enemies. I got killed a lot more...but I took the WM Leader down to big nasty while lagged out for 4 rounds and wearing only a crappy cabal outfit, no shield, and holy hands (vs a ranger lol)

What I'm trying to say is...thank you. Reminded me so much of when I used to love this game.

Bravo.

I just had a similar experience, playing Zylenier. I was fighting Aoku, getting hellstreamed by Aiu and my zombies summoned off and destroyed by Genrill. Aoku logged, understandably so.. Aiu hellstreamed about six items but died twice doing it and Genrill just kept the heat on in the meantime. It reminded me of what this game used to be.

When it's all meant in fun, and not meant to destroy someone's game play, it's fine. When it's only to destroy someone's game play and shoot down their willingness to play, it just becomes a ridiculous effort to be a dick.

That little run about with Zylenier, we should mention, Genrill -never- attacked Zylenier. Only his zombies. It should also be mentioned that Zylenier beat Aiu to a pulp WITHOUT zombies, so he was definitely capable of the heat. There's other reasons why Genrill got himself involved, but that should be found out in game ;)

Regardless, that bout was thoroughly enjoyable. No one was being a dick, no hard feelings, and no fruitless ganging, either. Even if Zy died, I doubt he would have been full looted (or even partially for that matter)..

:)

Ditto.

I loved fighting Genrill as Bailen. He plays smart and is a pain in the butt. I enjoyed a couple good tandems with Eriyad/Teshimei and Lumwick/Flamma. Scary, but fun. It's when someone seems to have it out for you any time you're logged on and will continue to kill you repeatedly anytime you're on. It just starts to undermine the whole experience of the game. Keep it competitive but respectful of people and their time and it's a blast.
