Mmm Coffee
This has always bugged me. A 23 INT, 18 DEX race with a mental vuln? Of all the mage races, they are the worst defensively. So they make up with some extra base HP...but why the vuln? Was it deemed gnomes are overpowered otherwise?
Mindflayer
Sure, bring back their vuln to bashing. That was WAY easier to exploit.
The-Nameless
If gnomes did not have a vuln they would be TERRIFYINGLY overpowered.
Mmm Coffee
I'm not saying they don't need a vuln...but MENTAL?? with a 23 INT? I'm really asking what's the RP reason behind it. It seems contrived, that's all. And, I would gladly have a bash vuln since I would never play a gnome warrior

Mwahahaha! No, seriously, I want some flail on gnome action!
jibber
Gnomes are so sexy as mages. Invokers/Battlemages. *drool*. I'd play one if the mental vuln was gone.
The-Nameless
the mental vuln means jack. I did what I feel is a pretty good invoker/psi gnome and the vuln never proved trouble.
Amaruil
Gnomes don't have a mental vuln, it's a more specific spell type than that.

jibber
Heh. Minister? Dispel magic? Both landed so damn easily on my gnome battlemage back in the day it wasn't even funny. Both are mental spells, so one would assume that they're vuln to mental.
Cephirus
The old bash vuln revolved around weapons like mace doing extra damage, they were in big trouble against meteor swarm... god I remember practicing that and having a gnome walk in... almost instant death on the first barrage. Obviously this was changed and they were given a vulnerability to not all mental attacks, but obviously some specific ones that are not to be discussed on the open forum. mya
I thought gnomes had Mental and Charm Vulnerability. Gnomes used to be normal size, and have trip immunity (you got damage and message but no lag) and the bash bulnerability. Which was great for gnome BMG and reflective shield.
