Unfortunately it seems that some people (still) like to try and take every advantage to attempt a victory. Now don't get me wrong, if my opponent is very difficult to defeat (known from previous fights) and they for instance make a mistake and attack a mob, I most likely will not show any remorse. However, I make a point to not attack people that are training or unequipped. There is not really much point (unless you are a tribunal and they are wanted) as I see it, and you don't really gain anything.

Unfortunately I am also aware that there are certain race/classes that gain strength by gaining kills, so hence will take the cheapest way they can to gain strength. Fear not though, they usually screw this up on their own and end up deleting shortly thereafter.

To try and turn this into a more constructive thread, here are a couple of ideas to handle someone that attacks you like that. The first thing you should do is flee and get far away from them. Next I usually send them a "what the hell" type of message questioning their choice in actions. If you do end up getting a very pointless statement of your life has come to an end or something. I try and run with it as best I can, but always remember they are now looking for you, so you have to be watchful (read typing where a lot) of any that come into your area. Again, never stay in a fight that you did not start, especially if they get the jump on you, there is no reason to, and it is quite laughable when they complain of how you are a coward. Make sure to carry a couple of potions/scrolls of recall and teleport pills(can be bought in Val Miran). Obviously the teleport should only be used if you have no other choice.

I was talking to the person when this happened.

You're undead. They are a stalker.

They arent going to ask for a teaparty. They arent going to ask if you're 'ready'. They arent going to let you know that you're about to die.

There is a time for RP and a time for not RP. He was also attacked immediately after your PK by Wardray. Do you expect him to stop and say? OMG dont attack me, I was just in a PK and I need to explain in detail the obvious to so and so, just so they realise taht the sub cabal they belong to is bent on killing people exactly like them. And that no, no mercy will be shown. And yes, they'll do it again if you're so stupid as to not check your where every now and then.

Welcome to playing an undead. Welcome to pk at 50. Welcome to the FORSAKEN LANDS.

While I sympathize with your frustration, Liadon... Aulian's got the right of it. Qclasses/qraces should not expect the same kind of restraint that regular characters might - an undead or demon or avatar or vampire is ALWAYS fair game. It's part of the price you pay for being one.

EDIT: I must also point out that none of those things you mentioned are something one can expect others to be aware of.

Let me be frank.

In a world where everyone is an expert runner. Warning people that you are coming is pure idiocy. People who want to kill you arent tour guides. They dont want to know if you're lost. They want to see you dead.

You were in a common area. If you're lost I'd suggest more time spent on exploring and getting to know your surroundings. You have to realise that yours is a special case. The normal friendly rules do not apply in this circumstance. You are the unliving, breathing manifestation of every Stalkers hate. You can expect to be purged like puss from a wound.

I also think that bringing this to the forum to 'whine' is in VERY poor taste.

Isn't Liadon a healer or some sort and her undead status isn't something she applied for with an app? I don't know. Liadon's activity was before my time.

Either way. No need to be overly harsh. Liadon is new. While we don't have to hold her hand (although I wouldn't mind ;)) we should at least be nice about giving her the bare, grizzly truth.

Liadon, basically you've become pk fodder. Welcome. :P

You'll just have to be super careful and hit where every couple of seconds. I usually hit where every 3-5 seconds because most pk'ers that are worth their salt can navigate any area in 5 seconds or less. So usually they'll pop into an area and back out to see who's there, if they see you, they'll prep and spamm directions to where you are and likely try and hit you with a lag spell if they have one.

@jibber:

No I can’t word, it was taken away. I was in an area I didn’t know because the people I was traveling with (to get equipment no less) had sign off. Like I said before, I had no potions.

@Pali:

I know that the SUPER evil baddies are targets the second their races is changed to it. Its painfully obvious your enemies will not care if you’re struggling.

@Aulian:

Everyone is NOT me. Anyone in the game named Liadon is me, every time. Warning me before you come will make me panic even sooner. It’s not hard to chase down a dog with two legs. I didn’t even plan on signing on as this character, there was a curiosity if she was even around still. Plus... I’m not whining. At least not meaning too.

@P_body:

Liadon was a healer of Compassion (Koevhar) and was devastated with the immortal change and felt abandoned. So there the change was inspired. Thanks for trying to help lesson the blow. I don’t mind being told that I’m being silly (at least as much as the next girl) but being harsh will make me not even want to play. Mistakes teach us and help us grow, but if you’re needlessly scolded you will be resistant to the lesson. I’m aware I’m PK fodder, Liadon Xiloscient has ALWAYS been PK fodder.

@All:

Liadon’s becoming a wraith was a gift from an immortal for my RP, it was never applied for and I never once murmured a word about becoming an undead. I go from a peddle bike to having a hummer and I can’t help but be intimidated by everything that’s going on with that character. I’ll go back to learning and save this character for later. Sorry, I never meant to come off as trying to attack anyone OR whining.

I'd actually recommend that you keep going with it, but go with it under the mentality of "I will lose every fight I'm in, I will die very often, and that's perfectly fine." My first pinn was a dwarf healer that I decided to treat as a purely RP character, and it paid off with rewards I wasn't even looking for much as yours did - but I died all the freaking time, and that's with a dwarf healer (I've also never had a character since with as many deaths). For most of his life I didn't even bother to wear EQ, because whenever I got good eq I lost it almost immediately - I just integrated into his RP a minimalist approach, wearing only a robe, sandals, a light, and a healer staff.

This kind of approach will be a bit tougher for you and require a bit more understanding on your part as a player than mine did, because you're an undead and undead have people who are dedicated to destroying them whereas I just had people who randomly felt like killing me - but if you can try to integrate this kind of mentality a bit more into your playing, then I think in the long run you'll find things less frustrating and enjoy playing the character a good deal more.

P.S. Keep in mind, Liadon, that in many cases, to care if your enemy is struggling is to break RP.

It's okay, Liadon now is a scary power house, and I WANT to learn to play it to the fullest of her potential. It is more or less going to be my treat when I feel confident with PKing. An ELF WRAITH Cleric has potential to easily put down anyone singlehandedly and en mass. This character is a powerhouse just begging to be learned and I plan to do so.

I dont have a problem with you struggling.

I just no the character you've brought into question hasnt ever looted me. And as far I know also hasnt looted pretty much anything from anyone.

It isnt a stomp on your face kill. Its a kill enforced by his rp and his position.

So my problem begings where you think he has done something wrong by acting as he should 100%.

What I do not get is unclassy kills without any RP before or after the kill. You would think to lesson the blow of dying and being killed to give the victim a little story... or something right?

Flame bait anyone? For a character I havent seen anything untoward from?

I'd be the first to shoot down this crap, too, if it weren't for the fact that -ALL- of us have done this in the past. We all get a free ticket, at least once. I understand Liadon's frustration, and I definitely understand and agree Aulian's POV. What's even better, is now I have a reason to come out and say something to everyone because of this post:

Those of you who think it's trash to PK someone else, whose the opposite align, who has a cabal standard to do so, or just otherwise doesn't like you should rethink what 'trash' is. Those of you who think it's okay to go borderline OOC in game because you think so-and-so has it out for you and only you should be ashamed.

Those of you who have qraces/qclasses and are able to STFU when they die and stay in character, I applaud to you and bow down to you for your ability to be a wonderful player. Those of you who haven't however, make me sick. I'm not saying Liadon ever went out of character here, and I don't think I've ever run into any situation where she EVER has (She's a WONDERFUL RPer) and I actually think it's a step up to come to the forum and beg, innocently, then to go off in game like some others have. But we also know this isn't the medium to do it.. it would have been best served in the prayer forum.

And one last thing: those who think it's a hassle to play a qrace/qthingie, or believe that this pbase "sucks" atm because they kill you as that qrace/qthingie -- you never deserved it in the first place.

*takes everyone's stones away*

Wow. Just-exactly-that. Wow.

Instead of grinding axes and using a newb for a punching bag, let's try to be diplomatic about it. Everything about this thread could have been worded differently by everyone. None of us had an easy first few years here.

Instead, it's turned into a pulpit for bashing everything everyone thinks is going wrong in game.

Liadon, thank you for handling this with a good level of grace. It's understandable to become incredibly frustrated. When you feel you can't take it anymore, you can always post in Prayer Forum or PM me. Thank you for your understanding, for learning, and for your patience with us.

Reverend you're wrong.

She brought it to the forums. Everyone has calmly stated their opinion. No one is getting upset. Dont make this out to be something it isnt. If she wants to call attention to an issue, you had better hold onto your holy ****ing socks and believe that those of us who have differing opinions are going to pipe up and say so.

Welcome to playing an undead. Welcome to pk at 50. Welcome to the FORSAKEN LANDS.

The voice of experience oft lacks compassion. Yet, a kinder voice would be lying to you. Sorry about the hard times your having, but follow the Rock's advice...... Take off that boot, shine it up real nice and stick it sideways up their candy @$$es. You may not succeed at first, but thats why we get soo many lives. ;) Good Luck

She brought it to the wrong section of the forum. I also do not disagree with most people's opinions. I simply said it could have been stated in a different way and the thread didn't need to be used as a launching platform for more frustration. Another thread could have been made elsewhere instead of adding to the pile. I am in no way implying you aren't entitled to your opinion, especially when I agree with them.

There is one person here who IS upset. Another player. This is the forums, not the game. I would sincerely hope there would be a little more compassion here than in the game. Let me re-state it here again: Yes, Liadon made a mistake posting here. We've all made some mistakes our first two years here.

The character is not a powerhouse, no single character by itself is. It is accumulated player skill, in game knowledge and understanding of every class in the game that makes a pk powerhouse.

Take ANY curent or past pk giant, give that character to a less skilled player, and watch them die horribly despite the characters pk record.

Play all the classes for a few years, then you can become a powerhouse.

Btw as q's go, undead outcasted cleric is probably one of the weakest...
