jibber
Anyone want an invite? For those who are curious as to what it is, go here: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/introducing-google-project-real-life.html As much as people seem to hate it and say it's lame, most of the blogs I've mulled over haven't even received an invite and looked into the actuality of the project. We all know it probably won't trump Facebook, or be "better" than facebook.. but it's a different network that I find more professionally done, more customizable, and far easier to share things with the people you WANT to share things. How many of you have heard "So and so got fired because of that "wall post/tweet"?" With Circles.. not anymore.
Deykari
I've heard about it, and I'm interested. Are they still allowing people with invites to get involved? Dey

Elfrosto
Does this really happen in your country? Constantly. An employer will google your name, as one of the first parts of the interview, and facebook is definitely on the list.

Deykari
Does this really happen in your country? A work colleague of mine was fired for making a derogatory comment about one of our managers on a facebook status... and I just work in a store. We as employees, are not permitted to make derogatory comments about the company, employees, any of it's customers etc. on any social networking site, personal website/blog or suchlike. Many other companies have adopted a similar policy. Dey
f0xx
I would have fired him too, if not for that, for being a idiot. I much prefer watching Dey's naked drunk gay pictures than reading degra... whatever comments.
Deykari
Funny that isn't it, that I can get fired for slating my boss on facebook, but not for tagging him in a picture of my ****? Dey

f0xx
By the way, the whole idea of an ADVERTISING company creating a social network disgusts me. So, google are mad that FB has a huge database of info which people share with them FOR FREE, but at the same time FB doesn't want to give google access to this database, so they decide to create their own social network and make their own database. jibber
Just an FYI, Google isn't just an 'advertising' company. I dunno where you got that from, but you're way wrong. Google is a company pushing for the future of technology and opening the internet to everyone, or more simply: Google’s mission is to organize the world‘s information and make it universally accessible and useful. f0xx
Lol Jibber, I didn't expect you to be so naive Google is your friend.
jibber
So because google makes it's money off of advertising (read my previous post, I never denied they did advertising) that makes them soley an advertising company? They're much more than that, f0xx, so don't go throwing around the Naive card when you've no idea what ELSE they do. When you have a chance, sign up for a gmail account and check out all of the features you can have (google docs, google voice, google music, just to name a few) and then post here again. f0xx
I know they do more than advertising, but for the bigger part, they are an advertising company.
Imoutgoodbye
I would like to take a moment and give you this article. Careful. There are ads on the page.
jibber
I know they do more than advertising' date=' but for the bigger part, they are an advertising company.[/quote'] I feel like I'm arguing with a rock Just because a company makes the majority of its money advertising, that doesn't make it their main mission. In fact, I'd go as far to say that advertising is a ploy to gather the money they need to provide their mission to everyone in the world. In short, your facts are flawed (as well as your statements), f0xx, being that it makes no sense to call Google specifically, (and only) an advertising company. Nearly every internet company gets their money from advertising/adds.

mya
Limit full, invites not working. No way in now, unless you know the right people. I agree that Google mission is not advertizing (pub), even if report is as it's bigest money maker. Goodle is the best information agency on the world. They are almost in everything, and store every info you have. While there appears to be no reported cases of Google leaking restricted info (excepting china thing), the potential is there. Just think. When you search for Porn what search engine you use? That's right. Same things relates to other searchs. With the added bonus of a search analises giving lots of info on your behaviour, personality and likes.
