Eriyad has flown the cookoo's nest.

Eriyad was a fun character to play for a while, but in the end, I couldn't keep up his RP. PK-wise, I found it difficult. This was my first ever mage, and I think the experience was good overall, but I will need to play many more mages to truly get the hang of it.

Most people know his backstory and motivation for joining SAVANT: to save his family from some unknown force which had put his wife in a trance and kidnapped his daughter.

I had some great IMM-involved RP sessions, and I thank them for that. If I would (could) have stuck it out longer, I think there could have been some very good RP to come out of it. What I had in mind was using the abilities of MYSTERUM to travel, physically or metaphysically, to another plane to realize that Isadora had been taken captive by Volgathras. I think that could have led to some good stuff.

I decided to quit for several reasons, but the main reason is I didn't enjoy the RP that much. I think it was a little too closed-in, self-centered, and that made it difficult to really fall into the character. I'd like to start a new character, but having Eriyad in the back of my mind keeps me from going into any real depth with another one. Quitting Eriyad seems to be the only way for me to start something new.

On top of that, I didn't enjoy being a SAVANT. I found myself having to fight countless WARMASTERS at all times, and I never really had a good chance to hone the RP portion of the game. I knew it would be like that going in, but I didn't realize that I would develop distaste for it. The war between those two cabals is, in my opinion, a necessary aspect of cabal warfare, but the RP behind their combat is either too veiled from the majority of players or not strong enough.

One thing that I found a bit unnerving: I was constantly being accused of being some form of "trash." I felt many players went over the line into OOC mode to tell me how trashy I am. I was taken a bit aback by this because I truly believe I'm one of the classier players here. I try not to take more than I need, and I always have a very well thought out RP to justify my actions. Also, I was surprised that some of the WARMASTERS would complain. Having played a Warlord in the past, I feel that any WARMASTER, especially a GLADIATOR, should not complain to his opponent for beating him, but respect him for the victory. Also, I think it's important for members of WARMASTER to remember that a SAVANT does not have the same mentality as you. They don't care so much about the 'honorable victory.' In many cases, like Eriyad's in particular, the SAVANT doesn't even want to fight you.

In truth, this is symptomatic a world that I think has become too soft. If someone kills me, I should not expect there to be anything in my corpse. The person killed me, so they deserve everything in there. If there is something left, I should feel lucky. I will admit that I too have been a follower of this "soft" mindset in the past. Dwimli, a Praetorian bard, was deleted because I was victim to a full-loot/sacrifice. Being a more mature player now, I realize that was a mistake.

One thing I was very proud of with Eriyad was his description. It earned a dragon. Some people don't think that's a big deal, but I do:

Wings outstretched, the Avian before you is

simply garbed in a long grey tunic that

stops above his bony knees. The garment is

well-seamed and is not torn nor frayed at

all. Two slits have been sewn in the back to

allow muscled, feathered wings to protrude

well above the creature's head. His

feathering is of a red, almost a pinkish hue,

and it shimmers just a bit, like an iridescent

salmon when caught in the sun.

His body and face are much like a slim

human's. He is almost handsome, but his eyes

are a bit haunting, a deep golden color

and sunken well into the sockets. His nose is

also too acute, angled downward, hawk-

like. No emotion can be discerned as he

remains expressionless, without frown nor

smile, nothing but straight, thin lips.

Textured leather sandals are tethered

tightly to his tenuous feet which are

squarely postured. He leans neither to the

left nor right, not forward nor back. He

stands stabilized, even, balanced.

A few shoutouts:

Grimulfr - Thanks for a great RP session.

Volgathras - Thanks for posting my RP logs and encouraging me to continue. Sorry to take the easy way out in the end.

Kadrinath - A tough foe who I respect as a character and player. I know we had a few disputes about looting, but I am staunch about the way I loot.

Ramahli - I think the final score was me 1, you 2. But if you count all the times you stole sacks or were completely annoying, the score is me 1, you 20+. You're a champ and a clever one at that.

Genrill - Thanks for being a good pal and showing me lots of equipment. Lots of people complained about you healing me, but I really don't think we did anything unethical.

Desprak - Thanks for hearing my story and doing a great write-up with it.

Thanks for all the fun, and I look forward to more in the future! I think my next character will be a true melee, and then I'll try another mage after that.

Man, it's a pity we had to let the reigns go. We could have gone far, but I deleted for many reasons other than what were posted in my deletion thread that you did a good job re-iterating here. Thank you.

And thanks for being a CLASSY player. I bloody mean that.
