Polk
I have been under the assumption that depending on what class you pick, besides your race and and stats, it would determine the amount of hp you gain per level. Like for instance, a human warrior would gain more hp per level than a human mage. The same scenario would apply to mana as well, just thinking it depends on your class. However when you roll up a half mage, he still gains the same amount of hp and 3/4 the mana. Shouldn't the warrior have more hp gains than a half-mage class? I am still reffering to the same race... Imoutgoodbye
By half mage, I assume you mean hybrid, aka Dark Knight. Dark Knights only get meditation, not trance. This combined with the 3/4 mana gain keeps Dark Knights from running around with Unholy Strength up 24/7. If you refer to Paladins, most of their spells are protective and I believe the upkeep on keeping them all up is strenuous (aka, casting them all greatly drains your mana pool, leaving you only some for flamestrike, etc..). Plus you'll notice that meditation/trance are not as effective on a hybrid as a pure caster. Like fast healing is not the same for pure casters as it is for pure melees. I think. These are just observations on my part, my attempt at an explanation, and not to be taken solely as fact.
Polk
I'm talking about the hit points you get per level up.
f0xx
God Valek, I am lucky I am not a newbie... your explanations would totally confuse the hell out of me Polk, in the end a pure melee (warrior, zerker, etc) will have more HP than a hybrid (pally, DKN) and a hybrid will have more HP than mage (invoker, cleric). Imoutgoodbye
Nonsense! You just have to treat any of my backwards explanations (mana vs. hp in this case) and apply the quadratic formula to it. Answers come out fine! RE Polk: I think you'll also find that hybrids aren't for everyone...*nudges Foxx*
Croyvern
An elf ranger has a few more HP than an elf mage. A few. 16 con sucks. Now if we consider a fire giant cleric/berzerker (con 23) we will see a greater difference. So yes class matters, but an innovative player will overcome the issue. Lets say there is 80 hp difference in an elf mage vs ranger, thats like two or three pieces of EQ.
Aulian
My Elf Ranger had like.... 800 base hp at the end. Training and learning in one Prac does help a fair bit
