Ignorance?

Alright, I've seen it a couple of times now.. an Immortal controls a mob and demands attention (and we should give it, being this is an RP mud too!) and every one (or most everyone) ignores it. This is the third time in the last couple of days I've witnessed people COMPLETELY ignoring the potential to RP (lowbie levels and pinn levels) when a mob starts talking, moving oddly, looks at you, stares at you, etc.

What the crap. I flip head over heels for that kind of attention. Stop and RP for a chance guys. Drop what you're doing. I don't care if you're on that high rise to pinnacle. RP > most anything that could happen on this mud.

I miss the days when CC of a city was the gathering point of RP. We need a kick *** Tribunal to take control again...

That's the entire issue with the game. You don't need someone to take control... every individual player needs to control themselves. I know its fun to win a PK... but real power is having it and not needing to use it to prove anything.

Some of us nubs, don't realize its actually something thats not implemented into the system really. I mean, I have seen a many mobs that just outright say crazy things when I walk into a room or even blackjack me! How am I suppose to realize the difference?

And yes, this would be ignorance...

Perhaps if some of the more key players (like for instance, cabaled players) actually did more role playing with lower level characters and speaking to them rather than just doing their own thing and the occasional congrats on the quest or sheath your dange weapon, maybe we could get a few ideas about some strong RP ourselves... I have ran into a few that will role with flow with you, but for the most part its just you and the AI. I'm not saying I expect it, just don't think it would hurt to see more of it. Then again, maybe I spend to much time training at low levels :P

Just sayin' it was easier for people to sit around and talk and interact when the paranoia of getting killed/blackjacked/assassinated wasn't so huge due to a Tribunal being present.

I would RP with imm controlled mobs, but my experience is a bit rough.

I've learned to run hard and far every time I see an IMM taking control over a mob because every time it ends either with my death, or with something that hurts me one way or another.

Every.Damn.Time.

I don't know how to RP with someone who can kill me with 1 command, and if that happens eventually, hell it's just RP, who cares?

I do.

Gathering tens of mobs in the same room, then sending them after me, slapping me for unspeakables, taking over STRONG mobs like Vlad and checking if they can dispel me first try... not fun... at least for me.

On the other hand, I've sit on the CC of a town for half hour with my pinned and cabaled character (in several occasions), and all I see is lowbies gating in and just walking off, without any sort of reaction to my presence. Sometimes it's about them doing nothing to gain attention.

Volgathras has never slain my character, even he has bothered to share attention to my character. In other words, you wont be killed without a reason provided by your own actions - by these days at least.

I've always RP'd with lowbies. Always. As far as getting kill by IMMs who control mobs.. nah, not me. Never died to that kind of stuff. Given you're not a jerk and all when you're rping with said mobs and your char actually does act that way normally (to those mobs) I doubt you'll die.

If you ACCIDENTALLY die, I'm certain the imms will give you your EXP back, and your life back. Haven't been in a case yet where that wasn't the case.

Its ironic that this is an issue. It used to be the other way around where IMMs would have to go wizinvis to get work done because they were constantly being talked to or RPed with. If Virigoth was seen, if he didn't have the flag, he was the center attention from lowbies to pinns. Like Jibber is saying, it falls on the players to capitalize on this.

We have had quite a few plots recently. Rheydin is in shambles and no one has made any effort to do anything with it. Rebuild or make attempts to turn it into their own cabal's fortress, castle, stronghold, etc. Take an old area or a stock area and make it your character's mission or your cabal's objective to change it in a positive way or in a negative way. So many things you can do with a little effort.

Entirely false statement... but okay. I personally have had 2 separate characters try to address Rheydin and was flatly ignored by the entire game. Seriously, don't pretend that things aren't exactly how they are. You either are one of the chosen few... or you might as well just go spam train.

So, whats the difference between you and characters like Despiser(for example) that have become a legend in the MUD not just because of PK but undeniably awesome RP. You say you tried on 2 separate characters, how hard did you try? How short lived were those characters?

And I don't mean this to seem like I am calling you out, I don't know what your characters have done.
