Solar storm engulfs Earth

For the first time, a spacecraft has observed a coronal mass ejection (CME) as it traveled from the Sun to the Earth - the spacecraft, STEREO-A, is currently about 65 million miles away from the Earth, allowing it a big picture view we've thus far lacked. If you're not terribly astronomically nerdy, this may not seem like more than a somewhat unclear video that doesn't show much, but I personally enjoy the reminder that space is nowhere near empty, and the planet's being bathed in radiation and matter constantly - it's just cool to me.

In other words... "Science is interesting, and if you don't agree you can f*** off." (origin of quote uncertain, but I love it :D )
