Donovan the Light in the Shadow

Another thing that I didn't like about the character was your use of Life Insurance. Awesome. It's there. Use it. But let's not full loot your enemies when you' date=' yourself have it constantly up. I know every single time I looked at you, you had LI, and every single time I heard you had died, the killer would comment "And I couldn't take anything. Life insurance again!". I mean, we all know what everyone thinks about LI, and how it could be changed, but it's kind of a slap in the face when you get this awesome kill on this unkillable ninja, unable to loot anything, then getting wtfpwned/assassinated 20 minutes later and getting full looted. I'll echo Mali here -- you played it wayyyy too safe.[/quote']

Playing it safe keeps people alive. Ninja's are pretty easy to kill if they don't play it safe. I have no problem with this. As far as Life Insurance? It's there. If you have the cps, use it.

Still' date=' a well played character.. I think you would have done a lot better if you went Praetorian though. Good luck with your next![/quote']

You posted many negative things about his toon just right above this. Putting this at the end of your comments doesn't make them easier to swallow.

I enjoyed Don the Don. Good work buddy. By my book, if people had problems with your toon you were prolly doing something well and they didn't like you for it. :D

My two cents for what they are worth....here it goes. As far as playing a ninja goes with the hiding and sneakiness of it you done great. Half the damn time i didnt know you were around until it was to late. Great job on that. Only had one real beef with that char and if you remember a certain fire giant that took out leodinak and was shortly killed right after. Just saying i was a little butthurt :) when i worked hard for that kill as my zerker, looted ONE piece of gear from a decked char and then had it taken again 3 minutes later. As said before though im not going to turn this into a flame thread or anything, just saying. Overall i loved the fact that you were so damn stealthy and i did finally get a crack at you a few times only to see -OBLITERATES- in straight melee combat, that was nasty. You beat my *** around and I did learn alot from that character so great job man and looking forward to your next. Good luck with the mma thing, my friends are all into that and do quiet well it seems. Just be careful and good luck. Hoping to see you back soon.

-That score sheet was rediculous btw. jesus.

You took a combo, elf ninja, that is very difficult to play normally and did extremely well with it in terms of PK and RP.

A lot of the players here don't truly understand the gear and buff combinations you had to use to achieve what you did. It even boggled the staff at times and we went to the trouble of completely reconstructing your char to see if there wasn't anything buggy about your stats.

Life-Insurance: If you have a mechanic in the game that hasn't been changed yet and hasn't been denounced by the staff as something you shouldn't do, go ahead and use it. That means you can use sanc when your enemies don't, you can outgear enemies, and you can even use LI when your opponents don't bother. :P

Donovan played cautiously and to survive. He didn't jump blindly into stupid or risky fights, but I would call that smart playing and more power to him. I snooped him fighting giant melees, clerics, and even vamps without logging out. That is the main difference between what Donovan did and what other 'cautious' players do: he saw it through. I can only imagine how the times people avoided fighting Donovan is exponentially greater than the times he bailed from a fight.

Only criticism from me is that he retired right after getting elder. :( Wish you had gotten a little bit more 'out there' with the noble RP too, since that is a public role.

Compassion RP: All the religions are open-ended, but I wouldn't place Istendil as the model for compassion RP myself. Donovan did a great job with balancing the religion with Knight duties. A bit aggressive in running down some enemies he normally rolled over, but far less so than other players/chars often do.

Personally, Tassin, I think you did everything right, for what it's worth.

Your RP has come a long way, hence why I didn't know it was you. I enjoyed our interactions, though they were usually brief due to my characters venomous hatred and self loathing seeping through. But Donovan and Leodinak were the huge reasons I kept going. That and helping Academy students as much as I can.

Keep us posted the amateur fighting and what not. I love to see you around the forums once in a while. Hardly ever see you here. :(

I definitely enjoyed our interactions, specifically with Mezikai. I knew what you were doing while I was chasing you, I was just hoping I would get a hit in before you could get the full study... but nope. Awesome kill, and well played. I hope things go well for you with the Amateur fighting, and hopefully in the future you will have time to play another character with us wimps (j/k). Good luck man!

Donovan was the only reason I stuck it out as Leodinak even due to my failures in my connection. Great RP and always there to boost back up my self esteem. Sucks for me that I didn't have time to play for the past month and a half and pretty much lost out on my Character. I won't have near the time I used to so its unlikely that I will make a return with any chars because 2 hours a weeks tops isn't much time to do anything at all in FL :).

Peace out bro, go whip some *** I wanna see you on TV!

Donovan was a great character, and I experienced nothing but classy play from you in both RP and PK. I still want to hit myself from the time we fought at the Black Dragon's door as Chakii and I felt confident at being able to avoid your push tactic because I was wearing the pass-door shadow on my legs, then it backfired as I forgot to remove it when I was trying to flee and fled INTO the dragon. :D

Yet another rivalry between our characters (WHY ARE WE NEVER ALLIED!?) and I had no idea it was you. I haven't played in a while but hope you keep it up. :)

Haha I remember that moment. Again I'm sorry I had to resort to that tactic, I was playing in the Philippines at a hotel connection. However still, Chakii gave Donovan one of the hardest times I still believe that the battle we had in Hoan Dor was probably the most epic I ever had while playing fl here. Do you have the log by any chance?
