I really think that it gives the players a sense of joining a community, instead of just a killfest, to be here on the forums. Sneak Posted January 8, 2006 Report Share Posted January 8, 2006 would be nice if you were allowed to talk about the game in the forum - the activity here is very low considering its a playerbase community - but when you cant send logs with charnames, give away char names or discus central issues in the game its hard to form a community. As far as discussing things that have never been discussed on the forum, quests, cabal abilities and the like, that's nothing new. FL hit a downward spiral about a year ago when Virigoth left, and the current IMMstaff has done A LOT to pull FL out of said spiral. Five or six new areas have been introduced, a new class is in beta testing, a new cabal has been introduced. What more do you want? Re Chayesh: That's not to say however, that some people don't even realize FL has a website or a forum. The game has evolved - now the majority of players TOO (instead of just the IMMs and a few players) are sick of cheaters, OOC'rs and the like. Its a good feeling to see players post that they don't like it - it means the days of actual cheaters getting ANYTHING other than maybe a pinncale are rapidly disappearing. Granted, it will always be with us, but the good players always seem to weed it out when we've had a lot of them about - in my experience in any case. If we give up a few forum members for keeping it this way, it'd be a price I, for one, would be willing to pay. Having a large community of 'gangs' sucks - espeically if you aren't a member. Not because people from the old forum don't know about it, but people that connect to FL without going to the website first. I know I did. It will bring new faces to the forums. I also agree with Sneak, banning the revealing of char names on the forums did stop a lot of good and somewhat stunt the growth of RP. It forces us to omit a lot of info on the forums.. I remember back in the day, when thats something we discussed all the time. But the playerbase grew and we got a lot of cheating new zealanders But its the lesser of two evils, the OOC(cheating) interraction is almost gone. Chayesh Posted January 8, 2006 Report Share Posted January 8, 2006 It's necessary to protect good players from the one's that do whatever they can to "win" at this game, including sharing info that was NEVER discussed on any forum and cheating, multi-ing, ganging, and other abuses of OOC connections. I think the majority of players understand that it is necessary, though at times restrictive. Those that don't will continue to take weak, but annoying, shots at the IMM staff. The code, as far as I know, draws the message of the day from the helpfile. Therefore, if you change the helpfile, you effectively change the MOTD. New areas - nice but everyone can do that - if youre referring to liches in betatesting I believe it was the same when viri left, and regarding the new cabal to me it sounds like a copy-paste mix of justice and royal. Now to me it seems the mud is going nowhere slow. Why am I still here? Cause its the best darn mud in town with so much unused potential and good imms and players that saddens me to see. re l-a: question is weather people/imms want this mud to grow or not. Only an arrogant person would insult not only the IMMs, but also players who have been here far longer than you (and stuck with playing by the rules as well) by saying 'you are the only one who cares about this game'. I'm not sure what Virigoth left lying around as far as code for them, but Behrens did a LOT of work not only making them, but testing and fine tuning them (and I believe said work continues now). Tribunal, which I can tell you haven't played by that remark, has very little in common with the Justice and Royal of old. To me it's going somewhere, and it's not down the tube. Now if I could get just a little patience. Anybody know where I can buy some or borrow some for a couple of weeks?
