Outcast Question

I've got an idea for some good rp, but it would require me to go outcast. The help file states that if your race cannot be the alignment you change to, you lose your spells. My question is, is that race only? In other words, if your class does not generally allow your alignment, do you lose them as well? All of them?

Well from my outcasting experience, if you say are a class that is restricted to a single alignment expect to get a kick in the face with your skills for being outcasted, the same applies for race I had a ninja outcasted who lost hide and sneak...not very fun.

Unless your RP is TOP NOTCH, above and beyond the norm expect to take a hit in your abilities, even with top notch RP the number of outcasts without penalties in the history of FL i think you could probably count on your fingers.

Im not saying impossible, but you best be on top of your game.

Their are many different kinds of ways to get outcast. It is possible to be outcast to a different religion and keep your spells, but I wouldn't count on it.

Is there any plus side to being outcasted? It seems one out of every two healers chooses to do it; and only healers..
Heh, yeah, it was a 'choice' for them. Heh.

There are two forms of outcasting. The first is "guild" outcasting' date=' the second is alignment outcasting. The second is far, far worse than the first.[/quote']

Nortak was outcasted from religion though. And he didn't lose any skills...

No, he wouldn't.

Jisil was changed to neutral and changed her religion, but wasn't outcasted, but believe you me, I was completely gimped. I had Kick mastered, though, and I hit LACERATES through sanc, and MANGLES without it. It kinda ruled. Kick RULES Ray of truth! Woohoo!

Often times, the more aggressive Healers are outcasted, but seem to lose little in the way of combat effectiveness.

Conversely, those who seem more centered on making an RP statement (regardless of class) seem to lose more in the way of the skills they need to survive.

The mentality of many Healers is often to try to taunt or draw others into a battle, and the majority, when attacked, will not only "defend" themselves but attempt to kill their opponent.

This is not new. This is a matter of individuals using the powers of the Healer in methods which are less than in line with the overall vision of the class.

I will never play a Healer. Were I to, I would immediately gate when assaulted. A Healer should never put itself in a position where it must take a life. By the same token, I could not see myself putting a Healer in a cabal, as this will virtually assure that you will have to take a life.

These are my observations, these are my opinions. Before the inevitable deluge of venom, consider that I do not mention any names, I do not say what is right or wrong, I only offer my opinion, which it has always been in fashion to respond most aggressively to on the forum.

I don't think it's even possible to kill a lightwalker with a healer unless you have a strong mob by your side. Divine retribution doesn't hit lightwalkers, which makes it extremely hard for Healer to stay alive against Tribunal Goodies, and above all that, no protection against good. Even then, why would a healer have protection against good? That's like against the whole concept of a healer in the first place.

So would a healer be outcasted for killing a lightwalker, and lose spells? (That'd mean he were actually trying, and not defending himself..) If I were the Immortal who saw it, I'd outcast him to neutral, remove all his spells, change his title to something like, "Stupid Killer of the Innocent" and laugh at him when he complains.
