Enethier
I delved into one of mine this morning, when my client refused to pass commands to the server. I watched myself die, and lost about a million gold in items as I disconnect from being "AFK", as none of my commands had gone through. Reconnected finally, about an hour later, nothing in altar, no corpse. My Anti-Rage Device: I quit, make a new character. Generally something cute and cuddly. Then delete; delete. Satisfies that urge to delete something. I find it surprisingly effective. That got me thinking... Do others have techniques that help them stick to characters through instances like that? Erana
Just take a look back at the shoutouts and general player props when they delete, and you'll notice that people are praised more heavily for persistence, creativity, and a good attitude than having an 'awesome pk' record. Some things are more memorable than others. Nobody is counting except you.
Akoz
Think of how bad I am, I mean I can count the number of PK's I have on one hand, one hand with no thumb or pinkie. That always makes me feel better.
Mmm Coffee
There's only one situation, that has happened to a few chars, where I rage delete/denial...a cheap death (ganging usually) followed by a full loot. If that double-whammy happens to me, in the past, I've typically been done. However lately I've been playing melees and getting used to dying haha. Maybe that's my tactic. Pali
Marijuana. Or booze. Both work.
Demiterracotta
I don't rage in FL, I have no idea why though, in other games I have rage issues, but never here. So whenever I rage in something I come play FL. Find a game that doesn't make you rage and go play it for an hour or two to chill? Plants vs. Zombies mayhaps? Tantangel
I run around a bit after being killed. If I'm having a bad few days or just a bad day in general and something happens that was stupid on my part, I just quit playing the character. Granted other factors play into it, I find ranking up and training a lot more fun than the 50's game, and if I haven't played a class before to 50, it makes it that much more interesting for me to hang on to. If it's a PK beast, well then I get bored of it too.
f0xx
I don't rage, except when my internet drops. But I've found that sending dirty PMs to Mindflayer works best for me.
Implementor Volgathras Posted February 15, 2012 Implementor Report Share Posted February 15, 2012 I find that listening to music not only focuses he, but keeps me from raging, too. The-Nameless
I used to get angry of what I felt where "****ty" deaths. Anymore you just start equipping, and send a note to yourself with the rat bastards name who did this to you, and start some RP oriented stuff targeting them. For example if it is a goodie, I like to send notes to Herald to send to all claiming that I am the bastard son of who he left when I was just a babe, leaving me and my mother to brave the world alone so he could pursue his own ends. If they are an evil I like to send notes to Herald about how the kittens they ordered have arrived and are waiting for pickup in Val Miran's Temple of Light. H&R
Log on your other PK heavy char and kill someone. That or play a game of dota, pick a favourite carry and start the killing spree.
Djriacen
I have only just recently fixed my rage/delete issue, and much like everyone else it was due to a stupid death followed by looting. I've found that playing music satiated the desire to one up the person and commit FL suicide.. That and pissing kids off on call of duty.
