Join a 'train'.

Or put to use that hand eye co-ordination and do some mean dodging with some lvl 15-20's around.

First couple of characters I sucked big time but once you get the 'knack' of it getting to lvl 10 should only take like 8 minutes if that.

i unlocked all the base classes and unlocked necromancer. the first time i saw a train, my mind was blown. i've only found two rare drops so far, a vitality ring that increases fame by 1%, and a necro skull that does 100 dmg and 1% fame. i lost them both though when i died in the final dungeon area. :(

It's the problem with trains. Helps to pick up at least some average-EQ along the way dropped from the trains as it's better than starter EQ. If you die, that's it - you and your EQ are gone, but you do have a vault in the Nexus where you can store things that transfer across characters, handy if you find something uber that another class can use.

Going to the Godlands with other high-level people (or joining an existing group of 20s) is the best way to start getting better EQ. Entrances to dungeons (you've probably seen the Pirate Cave ones) have a chance to spawn from different tier enemies, Pirate Cave being the lowest level going right up to some demon/undead type dungeons which are a good source of loot.

There are also 'soulbound' lootbags that are purple/blue/white, which other players don't see - just the person the loot is soulbound too. You have a chance to get those if you deal damage over a particular threshold. They contain the higher-level stuff. Best way to get equipped is to get involved fighting the gods and lay down as much damage, and don't worry if you see a purple/blue/white bag - that's just for you, take your time getting it as death is permanent.

Defence is probably your most important stat initially anyway. The damage reduction is notable with better defence stats, so you can take hits much more comfortably instead of going down after a few hits.

I was really liking warrior and knight for their super DEF. It makes the early levels very easy. The limited attack range really sucks though for the higher level stuff since you have to get in close to deal damage which leaves you with little room to dodge attacks. I think my favorite class so far is still the cleric, with the healing and long range attack. I still have other classes to unlock though so maybe the cleric will be usurped.

Knights in particular are awesome for that. The key thing for all of the classes at higher levels are definitely the stat-boosting potions. With a Knight's high defence you can have a base stat of 40 (or is it 50?) def as a Knight, without armor... which means you can shrug off HUGE damage, and afford to be in there close just absorbing damage.

Even with the base 25 defence for the other classes, getting your defence to there for the likes of a wizard or necromancer is like being in the best armor in the game for a Knight, without robes.

Helps a lot for survivability. Wizards are a good class for farming high-level EQ with as if you position their spell carefully you can get lots of the 'shards' hitting the same enemy for big damage, meaning more chance of soulbound drops.

A lot of people love the cleric class, it's a good solo class from what I've gathered, I just can't quit my love affair with the necromancer. Long range attack, good area spell that heals.
