Izzy
First off I would like to say how difficult it is to write an application using the format we have in place, I would love to see an editor, like we have with our descriptions. Second off, some of us are not as gifted when it comes to writting as others. I personally made it to grade 11 english, and try very hard when it comes to rp in this game using my limited skills. Though I could build you a fourty story skyscrapper with my eyes closed. Maybe we could hold some sort of classes to those who are interested in learning some things. I am sure there are those out there with knowledge on the subject. It is difficult when you give it your all, and feel you are punished because you can not scribe your thoughts as well as others on paper. This doesnt mean you are not role playing, maybe you are just not as good as others at it. At the end of the day I would hate to see anyone get ridiculed for trying. P.S It is better to try and fail, then to fail trying.
Enethier
In my experience, the imms work very well with applicants, regardless of skill level. Whether you use fifty words or ten, or type them in 5 minutes or 1. It doesn't matter. As for getting better, try making a herald. Elrozin is hurting for scribes, and it will give you plenty of practice with interacting with people. Don't worry about word complexity. Just focus on assuming the role of your character, type at your level. The imms will see that, and they take care of everyone that rps and makes the effort. As for writing apps... I'm not sure if it is the right way... but I usually try to speak as the character. To format it, I use the app format command. Usually sets things up properly. Tantangel
Easiest way for me to do it is to type 0123456789 and copy paste it till you have seven sets and then every time you get to the end of it or close to the end, hit enter and continue typing. If you go over on it too much it'll wrap to a new line and you'll have to reformat it to be closer to the end of the line or even before if you have to. It's a nice format and makes pretty much everything more neat in general. I use this format for applications and descriptions and it has yet to completely fail me. Granted I'm only seeing it from one client and not like telnet or something so it usually always looks pretty in MUSHclient.
Pali
I always do my apps in Notepad and then copy them over to my client, using the same 1234567890 seven times line limit that Tant described.

Deykari
Sky's the limit when it comes to the subject matter of your application. You don't have to just write your application as if it's written by your character. I have used a lot of different ways of writing applications and they can be fun to write and sometimes help 'fit in' with your roleplay. My Wulfyn restring application was written as a front-page newspaper article from the Rheydin Gazette with witness statements from two Dwarfs who'd seen a wolf-like figure stalking the streets at night. Heiqen's Undead application was written as an official medical report for his first patient. Whilst these sorts of things are arguably just 'novelty', the change in style of writing can give you a different angle to write from instead of just the typical first-person "When I was young I murdered a dog, I'm evil, make me a vampire" which is fun and motivating, and can breathe some extra life into the application. Tantangel
If you want I could post some of my applications that have been approved for various qrace/classes. Then you can get an idea of sort of how they could look overall. Some of them had more RP background however through notes and such so some of those were approved far faster than others. jibber
I usually write apps in third person, or in a journal kind of way. Third person by far has gotten me approved a lot faster, and generally it isn't just one app. IMMs prefer you sent notes in for the other parts of your app, if it exceeds the one page. Akoz
I will tell you this. My english skills are, sub par to say the least. I have been helped many times by players and imms at improving this. Never once was aI ridiculed. In fact, as long as I continued to try and improve I was REWARDED. My best isnt as good as some peoples normal, but most of the time they can see the effort and it pays off.
Izzy
I agree with you one hundred percent Awendris, now what do we think about adding the Application edit feature? I find it great for Descriptions, why cant we use this for Applications and notes?
Filth
I remember there was a Mutant(Illithid) (sorry, can't remember his name) who wrote an app for Psi from the perspective of a Chron Master giving a psychological profile on the Mutant. It was clever.
Tantangel
I read Pali's application with Vryxtyx and I found it intriguing to say the least. It also gave me a perspective of how I should probably start doing my applications from there on out and be more creative with them. I wouldn't mind an editor for people who don't want to go about it the 70 line route, but for now that's probably going to be easiest for you in all.
