Izzy
Okay I do not care what anyone says, you can not fight a warmaster monk with an awl and a stave, or any uncursed weapon and a stave. There special abilities make it impossible, it is better to have your weapon forcefully removed with there stunning blow, as at least they have to use that ability. So for all you who posted earlier wear a stave, hold an awl blah blah blah, insta death when fighting a WM monk:D
jibber
I think it was you who said you could roll with an Invoker in the other thread. As for the matchup, definitely a bane one, but possible to do for sure. I've never been a supporter of wearing a stave/disarm able weapon myself. Always been a staff/cursed weapon supporter. Pali
I believe Nameless's recommendation was no weapon and a stave, not a disarmable one and a stave. Just to be clear.
Kyzarius
It is a very tough matchup. In truth a monk doesnt even need to be in any cabal to totally lock down and own an invoker. Is this the moderate monk I saw with the WM flag? I gave him some pointers a few weeks ago as Bligsby, lol.
The-Nameless
As stated before you go one of two ways. Firstly you do *NOT* wield *ANY* weapon. Secondly, you first test saves with fireball, if it hits hard, keep tossing them. If it hits for crap, switch to call lightning. Use a charged stave, and no weapon. This will require some luck, some skill, and some healing items (you are using piles of them right?). WM monk is a tough match for an invoker, but it can be done, just not ever going to be a cakewalk. If your curious on anything as far as how to equip, please let me know yes? I have played *many* invokers.
Kyzarius
why do you not wield a one handed cursed weapon and hold the stave? If they go dragon for the disarm, then they are not in crane for the lockdown.
The-Nameless
Dragon disarm, bolt, Phant dragon is scarier IMHO. Sure Chakras can cause trouble, but Gladiator disarms while in dragon are nasty.
f0xx
but Gladiator disarms while in dragon are nasty. Not anymore. [12/27/09]: Dragon Stance/Ironarm benefits no longer apply to certain Warmaster disarms
Kyzarius
If they are in dragon though, how are you getting locked down? From my experience dragon never allowed enough chakeras to reliably hold someone in place. An un cabaled monk in crane can lock down any cc'er from 100% to dead. To put it this way, as a communer, I laughed when I saw dragon. Ran when I saw crane.
Izzy
I used one handed cursed and stave and came out on top twice better indeed
Kyzarius
I used one handed cursed and stave and came out on top twice better indeed yes, This is my point. Use the most defensable one handed you can wield cursed. Hold a stave. This way you do not compromise defences completly. If they dragon, then you wont get stuck nearly as easy. If they are crane, you still have some small chance to defend which could help you get more damage out. Also, use fire shield/ice shield, and wear armor that PROCS damage. Firestorm is a must. Always have temporum t, ability up and open with the temporum V skill to reduce their melee effectiveness. The goal is to understand you WILL be locked down and plan accordingly by upping your passive damage output. Once hit with a chii-bolt, your goal should be flee as quickly as possible, protective sheld only, then get on them as fast as you can. They take 3x the time to rebuuild a lvl 3 chii bolt than it take syou to reshield and become immune to chakeras again. Also, detect magic will allow you to plan attrition of their stance, you can then be an annoying enemy by not ever engaging till you know its within a few hours (a temporum can REALLY use this). Tantangel
Actually as a C/C the only time I worried about Crane was when I was a Cleric. Otherwise I laughed at that more often than Dragon stance.

sarcon
What is the purpose of the stave with this tactic? Don't know invokers much but perhaps the Stave is the one with the Charge in it.
Enethier
Don't know invokers much but perhaps the Stave is the one with the Charge in it. This. Stave disarm is something very few people can do. It protects your charged item better than curse can (iron arm, dragon disarm, warrior improved disarm, weapon cleave). Against a monk, I believe it makes it impossible, barring any cabal power I am unaware of, to remove the charged weapon.
The-Nameless
get a bracelet of control. Noremove nodrop stave Bmgs (localize gravity), shamans (through mals) Dks, (through mals) thieves (through pry and planting talismans/oak rings/glass rings), Ninjas (maledictions scroll + class skills) are all I can think of offhand that can readily cause you to drop a stave
mya
What about using mana shield to prevent dragon chakera damage?
The Forsaken
I've never seen the benefit of crane to be honest...The higher hit roll is nice I suppose, but when you can get up to 55-60 without it, meh. Unless there is something I'm unaware of with the 'brutally connects with 'blah blah'' I don't see the point in using it. Use tiger or monkey vs c/c. Or dragon/tiger against those special c/c's like Azini.
