FatMike
*Climbs up on his little box* I've got two words for the folks who do nothing but gripe and moan. **** and you. You don't pay to play here, go somewhere else if you're so unhappy. You don't own the mud so bring up something with a little constructive criticism or go somewhere else if you're so unhappy. You obviously don't try hard enough in your own way to change things, so go somewhere else if you're so unhappy. Basically all 90% of us do is spend time and effort into something we truly enjoy. I've got plenty of time and plenty of effort and I'm plenty happy here. Sure I get frustrated with things(mostly myself) but I try to change those things that frustrate me in a positive manner not bring my angst here and piss everyone else off or bring everyone else down. Do me a favor and probably a few others a favor, play the game and have fun or go somewhere else. To the staff, thanks for putting up with me and everybody else for no money and even less thanks. *Climbs down*

Zavero
I don't see a point in trying to do whatever you are doing, Teurlain. Just because you come here and whine about people whinning, isn't going to change them whinning or playing the game. You're just stirring up trouble. Might as well leave it alone. People will always have something to whine about, and if it's not the players now, it will be the players in a few years whinning about the same old things that people now whine about. I see a lot of people turn constructive idea's into retarded posts. Such as the post about dwarf paladins. It's an honest question, but here you got people saying, "Why don't we make duergar/fire giant dark knights? or Storm Paladins." What's the need to be smart when the guy had a legit question. That's the problem, when people get constructive idea's(although it wasn't necessarily a good idea, it was a good question) other people who come here all the time and know "alot" about FL, say stupid, smart comments because they believe the question was "stupid" and "common knowledge." Then because those people who ask those questions that are so rudely shot down in the blink of an eye, they start whinning. Not saying in this case whinning took place, but it's just an example of why people might whine. Because when they have good ideas/constructive idea's they are just mocked, so whinning comes along. Because I've noticed that whinning gets a lot more of attention then constructive idea's ever do. A lot of the longer posts are started by a "whine". Just my opinion anyhow. Because I've noticed that whinning gets a lot more of attention then constructive idea's ever do. A lot of the longer posts are started by a "whine". Just my opinion anyhow. It's not enough to ask 'Why not?' You need to say why. Wow would you like people to have answered? If they can't disagree, then it's not a discussion. And the way it was worded was not a very good question either, no offense Polk, but it was making comparision across completely different race types and class types, and he never stated why the rp was logical. And in thread I see only see 2 post that would be considered mocking(one is off topic), 18 off topic, the rest seem perfectly fine to me. Where people posted on a discussion. I think the big issue is that what's rude to one person is critism to another, or a joke to another, or playful sarcasm to another(useally thats me), etc.. If someone posts on an open forum, with an idea, as it really was an idea because it was posted in the idea's forum, they are going to meet up with people who have opposing opinions. If people need honest help, such as the newbie forum, then I would agree with you, no need to be an *** in there, but I don't see people being an *** in there. And you said 'constructive idea' but would you mind defining that for us in a universal term so that everyone uses it the same way? Saying I mean elves have gotten ninjas' date=' why not give the dwarf the paladin class? Has logical rp, and I'm sure alot of people would enjoy being one. Lots more added rp/and make for an interesting new challenge.[/quote'] does not seem very constructive to me. I don't see it as bad, or wrong to post, or any of that, but it just seems, to me, to be a stab in teh dark. To make it constructive I would have liked to see an explination of the rp that it fits, I would have liked to see a better comparision than elf ninja=dwarf paladin, because those two really aren't similar, or maybe just a better explination of what that comparrision was actually comparing about those two. So what constructive ideas became retard posts? Perhaps I just don't see the forum the way most people do, so I could be entirely off base here, but I really don't see people being completly dickish to each other, and I don't see an over abundence of whining, it really is just as it always has been. Some percentage of people aim to be *******s(I swear I'm not one), some percentage of people aim to be against the man(because they seem to think it's a us vs them enviroment) and the rest sorta fall somewhere in the middle. Sooner or later a middle man will make a move to one side or the other, but always ends up back in the middle, or out of here. I have no doubt that in time, the people who have been mean on the forum will be nice guys, and the people who have been asshats to the staff will be staunch supporters. Zavero
Warrior Cleric, you're focusing too much on the dwarf paladin thread. I was only using it as an example of perhaps a reason that people whine. This thread isn't at all about a dwarf paladin/storm paladin. I am saying constructive idea's in general are shot down (Not always), which is fine, but the way people go about it with smart comments(maybe I just feel they are smart) is not the way to get another player to even consider posting. You missed the entire point of my post. It was to say to Teurlain that I (Yes, my opinion) believe that his post just stirs more trouble then it solves. I am wrong, I can see as no one has posted an argument or complaint, but I still feel it was unnecessary. And yes I do feel that some (not all) posts that are made to ask a constructive question, become retarded posts. Because people have a tendancy to go off on a rant about something that had nothing at all to do with the thread. You are right, I don't see many people being "dickish" to other people, and I don't see much whinning. Which is why I posted in the first place. My example of the dwarf paladin thread was that if someone does whine, I can understand seeing as it's an alternative to posting something you feel is a good question, and having a smart comment come back. I don't see things as whinning/complaining as others do, because everyone has their own opinions. I am saying is it necessary to post about people's "whinning" and how it needs to stop? Just looking to stir up more trouble?

WarriorCleric
I had a long post using specific examples from the last 20 ideas posted in the idea's thread but I decided to not post that because you have only mentioned the dwarf paladin thread, so I could really only use that one. So don't look at what I said as a specific example of the dwarf thread, but a general outline of how idea's that turn 'retarded' are typically posted using the dwarf thread as an example. And if the point of your post was as you said, then it was two paragraphs too long. I am saying constructive idea's in general are shot down (Not always)' date=' which is fine, but the way people go about it with smart comments(maybe I just feel they are smart) is not the way to get another player to even consider posting. You missed the entire point of my post. It was to say to Teurlain that I (Yes, my opinion) believe that his post just stirs more trouble then it solves. [/quote'] You still have yet to give that example of these constructive ideas that are shot down. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I am saying that it's going to happen, and it should happen, and everyone you bring up I will give you a reason why it was shot down. The well thought out idea in the world is still garbage if it doesn't fit the game. And I didn't miss that specific point of your post that you brought up, my thoughts on everyone coming back around will happen, that was one of my two cents on the subject, I didn't share the other because I didn't want to be called an *** about it again, not by you but by anyone, but here is my last penny... If thats what you are saying, then why are you saying it? Aren't you just whining about people whining about whining? Is that better? Thats one of those issues where if you don't like it, you've got to just keep it to yourself and let people do it. Sorta a take the high road, otherwise you're just getting your feet dirty. And it's an open forum, and conversations evolve as you talk. Topics are going to change and go off on tangents, like it or not, it's going tohappen, it's the nature of a real, dynamic, conversation.
