f0xx
Has anyone tried this game before? I remember playing the beta back when I was a student, but I could play it only on my room-mate's PC since mine was too slow. I've installed it a month ago and I can't stop playing it. Been playing the "With fire and sword" official mod and it's incredible. I hear that the original "Warband" game is even better. I've never met another video game with such realistic and rich gamplay.
Pali
I've spent plenty of time on it myself. It is indeed just a lot of fun.
f0xx
Which one have you been playing? "Warband" or "With fire and sword"?
Pali
I tended to prefer playing various mods of Warband, as that's the only one where you can end up declaring yourself king. I can't recall the mod name now... it's been a while.
Pali
Damnit, Foxx, you mentioning it made me want to play it again. I tend to use the Floris Mod Pack with it, which has a crapton of user content - the full version of the mod is four times the size of the original game. It installs very easily, since the game designers made it VERY mod-friendly.
f0xx
Hehe I just learned about the couching lance blow, nothing compares to the feeling of charging with your cavalry into the enemy infantry. Pure ownage
inscribed
I picked up the pack of them in a Steam sale some time ago, but never got around to playing them. If it wasn't for Realm of the Mad God being my current fixation, I'd give it a go. Maybe after RotMG becomes tiring.
f0xx
Have you tried any other mods Pali? There are A LOT of them out there and some look REALLY good.
Deykari
It sounds and looks awesome. My amazing little laptop of 6 years with it's super-fast 1ghz single core processor (with no cooling because it the fan probably burned itself out long ago), 1gb of ram and dreadful integrated graphics will handle it no problem. Pali
Honestly, Dey, it probably would so long as you keep the battle sizes down a bit. Mount and Blade itself is NOT a demanding game of your graphics card - mods can make it so, though. And no, Foxx, I haven't tried many of them. The Native Expansion is solid, though it doesn't add nearly the amount of content Floris does.

My amazing little laptop of 6 years with it's super-fast 1ghz single core processor (with no cooling because it the fan probably burned itself out long ago)' date=' 1gb of ram and dreadful integrated graphics will handle it [i']no problem. Dey Dey, I currently play it without a GPU (using the internal GPU on my processor 2500k). The game is very light, especially if you tone down the effects (I don't like most of them anyway). In "Warband" it's even lighter, and it's the better game too, since "Fire and sword" seems somewhat unfinished. I used to play the beta on 1.6 GHz and 512 RAM and 5500 FX. @ Pali: I've been reading about the Floris mod for a few hours now, it seems to add some very interesting functions to the gameplay. Might give it a try soon. Have you had any problems while running it? Game crashes and bugs? That's what bothers me most with mods.
Pali
Nope, no problems at all with crashes. However, Dey, if you decide to play, I would recommend NOT getting Floris (or at least not the biggest version - it includes three), as it includes a number of graphical enhancements that do up the reqs. The Native Expansion would likely serve you better.
f0xx
With that config he shouldn't be getting any mod at all
Pali
The Native Expansion doesn't really have any engine enhancements, it just adds game content, which is why I think it should work fine for him.
Aulian
So im playing the demo right.... Whats the point exactly? And this might sound dumb, but **** its hard trying to aim and clout something from the back of a horse.
Pali
No point. Just run around and build up forces to take over places. It's not exactly a story-heavy game... quite the opposite. And it takes a bit of practice.
f0xx
This guy "Floris" seems to be quite extraordinary. I've been reading his "journal" about playing MB, it's written like a tale. Incredibly good and enjoyable read. http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,115780.0.html
Aulian
So I bought Mount and Blade on steam, its pretty addicting with the demo so I'm excited as to what I'll achieve if I play for more then 30 days. Anyone have any advice? Oh and Pali, where is the best place to download the native mod expansion?
f0xx
Here is the Native expansion for WARBAND I would somewhat suggest to play a bit without any MODs though. Which part did you buy btw? Fire and sword or Warband? I ask because there are some BIG gamplay differences between the two.
Pali
You can still get the original Mount and Blade (pre-Warband) through Steam, so that's a third option when it comes to what game you've got.
f0xx
Ah yeah, I think the call it "Vanilla"? For w/e reason... I played that one when I was a student... boy Swadian knights were so OP.
Pali
Vanilla, largely because both Warband and Fire and Steel were both pretty much the developers taking ideas from the successful mods and putting them together in new packages.
