Fighting within the Milieu

Recommended Posts

Can we make all the rooms in the Milieu NOPK? I think it'd lessen the offense, being that if someone were to try to attack someone else in there (even by accident) they'd get the "You can't PK them" message. Then, as before, those who break the rules by camping inside or running inside to stop a PK can be reported via note to Immortal.

I think slaying/eating corpse is a bit over the top. Just make everything in there nopk.

It's whatever. I don't care if it's there or not. I just feel like there's no reason to be re-asking or reclarifying that you shouldn't fight in the Milieu. Either drop the rule, or just slay people who obviously are ignoring it. Doesn't affect me, but it seems to be a recurring issue.

I think we need a guard to stop bloody people from getting in

Or I should be able to chase the sorry git in there.

+1

As it is, people will run in there to hide and when you attack them, they will complain YOU broke the rules.

Yes, you can always report them and get them slain, but what will your character win from that?

Twin didn't get slayed. He was just saying that the issue is well understood by the players and that slay or not, it did not warrant a re-posting of the rule. He thinks that, wrong or right, it is not a big problem. It would be like logging into your favorite digital news source to see the headline "kidnapping is a felony". We understand that and do not need to be reminded. Twin was lamenting the banality and redundancy of such posts. He would much prefer to login to more interesting and relevant headlines. He is also very busy which is why I am posting this for him.

Eh... two instances I've experienced with this :

1) I was sitting in the arena area fighting for gold sacks over and over again some time ago. Who ever that M named gargoyle leader in nexus (the one that only ate magic food) was came in and killed me. He full looted me, naturally. In the end, we both ended up losing everything... this does not protect people in the end.

2) My cousin Grosek just got tired of the same guy hiding in the arena when mal'ed up so killed him on the road. Zhokril told him in PM he would be slain and looted when he logged in. He logged in, tipped his hat, deleted, and hasn't had a serious character since. This infuriates players because not everyone wants to make complaints to staff.

My opinion is if mechanics can't enforce a rule, and RP can't enforce a rule, it is a fail rule that is subject to eventual removal. It requires more staff babysitting, which no one likes to do. Players will always break rules like this. It is a matter of time. Telling a player to check themself is just as effective as telling your cats to stop crapping in the corner. The moment you turn your back you will turn around again and see a fresh surprise in the corner.

Mechanics stop accidental and intentional abuse. Yes, I am suggesting hard-coding to fix it. Why not? Flags like this already exist for areas. It seems borderline masochistic to WANT to deal with this problem when you don't have to (as staff).
