I don't understand how that's possible. The idea itself is insanely entrenched with potential RP. The mechanical aspect gives you STUPID advantage over the competition and the prestige for such a position is so insane that you cannot become a leader of your cabal! What's not to stick with?

I stand by what I said though. I don't get why they are few, taking what you said into consideration. Avatars are insanely beefy. Crusaders are [potentially] insanely beefy. I think it's cause you can't necessarily wreck a pbase with either, because you can just roll a kind neutral or a goodie and have no issue with said qraces.

Evil qstuff can kick your *** regardless of your disposition towards them.

They cant be that strong...

Not that i ever fought one, but still...

Strangely i was hoping to roll a avatar wannabe due to the recent evil numbers, but if everyone is jumping on the good bandwagon, perhaps i will maintain my current project.

It's not that avatar overall isn't strong -- it's that, in my opinion, it's significantly stronger for some classes over others. There are some classes where being an avatar almost completely lacks utility and some where it is the ultimate addition, even beyond most subcabal powers.

It's all water under the bridge now, but the reasoning at the time was strictly rp related, the statement being that avatar rp and knight rp could conflict and thus no avatar could go above t. I always thought it was actually power and skills related (considering saliths dominance at the time) being justified as rp, so I guess now we know :). Unfortunate as that was the reason I dropped him and haven't been back in any significant fashion since.

Avatar Knight Elder could very well face very difficult rp choices. In the end' date=' avatar duties become before cabal. That is why avatars in tribunal / justice usually never worked out.[/quote']

Ain't that the truth, even crusaders have trouble with this one sometimes.

It's clear there has been a change in the point of view of the staff; from the old ("the potential RP conflict prevents Avatars becoming elders") to the new ("Avatars can become elders in spite of this potential conflict"). Change is good! My only point was that, per the quote below, when this came up before it was stated as more of an RP issue, NOT a balance issue (mentioned broadly, but never addressed Salith), but the justifications for the change seems to be balance today. Either way, like I said, water under the bridge.

Zhokril - "Avatars have to follow their duty to their god at all times, no questions asked. A cabal elder has to be a representation of their cabal and act in its interests. There is a massive conflict of interest there."

Haesierph - " Whilst the both Avatars and Knights are good-aligned and have the same patron god, that shouldn't suggest that the overall goals of an Avatar and a Knight sit together.

With that in mind, it would be bad roleplay from Haesierph's point of view, to appoint somebody as Knight Elder who he felt wasn't suitable for that role."
