Lokail - Merchant Prince of Aabahran (E of Merchant)

Recommended Posts

At long last this toon has finally met his end. Not because of anything in game, but because I can no longer dedicate the time required to keep up with the business. As it stands now, I think I've accumulated somewhere around 16 million stashed away and earned double that throughout the char's life.

I had a blast with this toon and really wish I could have continued longer with him. He was my first Elder, (thank you Imm's for the chance there, sorry I couldn't dedicate more time once I got it), and I was going to show-off my Elder ability at the auction I had planned, but RL got in the way.

First shoutouts, and then thoughts on the cabal.

Khorelzur - Man! I really wish you would have stuck it out and RP'd what happened between us. I spoke with Thulgan afterwards and you would have been able to continue with your cabal choice, but it would have just taken a bit more work. This was one of the greatest disappointments I faced with this toon. One of the many times for great RP to fizzle.

Garacci - One of the late comers that I really wish I could have been around more to hang out with. You were one of the VERY few people to whom gold actually meant something. This is why I always quoted "low" values because most of the player base required me to do so. You always took it in stride though and offered me more, and sometimes double, what I quoted. Classy player for sure.

Achskel - I <3 you man. I always needed a couple of moments to figure out what you were trying to say. Not to mention that our relationship started with you using me as a punching bag. Thing was, I knew you were coming to do just that and so I hung around to wait for you to attack. That was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Imms - As always, classy. I -finally- got to directly RP with Anume for a bit. Can check that off my bucket list. Brehan, thanks for the chance to serve. It was a blast trying to work things out for the Family.

All Customers - Thank you for one of my most memorable times playing FL. Stingy though most of you were, I found the game of cat and mouse pricing to be entertaining at the least. Every piece of armor I ever wore was for sale (if I could remove it... grr). Only Cacophulant ever paid to see me naked. :P

I really tried to get people to come to me with items to sell to make gold. A Merchant has ways to make gold ridiculously easy. There's even one mob in a very common area which will give a Merchant ~73,000 gold every six minutes. Now what if another player

Cabal Thoughts:

MERCHANT is the most in-depth and varied cabal FL has ever seen. A Merchant has the ability to be any combination of armor dealer, weapons dealer, drug dealer, outfitter, hunting party aficionado, tour guide to the ends of Aabahran, etc. If you can think of a way to put a price to it, MERCHANT has a way to do it.

Don't be fooled though, as MERCHANT has one of the highest out-of-game costs to playing if you want to be as efficient as possible. I had folders of herb orders, item requests, etc that I would go through every time I logged in. Korthian was not kidding when he/she said that it was time consuming to tend to it all.

I was disappointed that Merchants did not get an identify ability as a cabal skill. While I realize there are numerous other ways to do this (cabal mob, items, scrolls, etc), I really thought that it would have made more sense that a Merchant would be familiar enough with the items of the lands to be able to identify them easily. On the other hand, Merchant actually has a laundry list of cabal skills, and I can see where a concession may have been made as far as that was concerned (hence why I mention it in passing here instead of taking it to prayer/suggestion).

Overall? Merchant is ridiculous... ridiculously awesome! Elder/Leaders abilities will have some awesome uses that the player base would love I think if someone can devote more time than I could in seeing them through. Even though the sub-cabal wasn't started exactly how Korthian might have imagined, there's a lot of play within the cabal. I had gotten a bit down-trodden with Lokail for a bit, but then I figured out a few more things to do, which lead to other things that I didn't have time to do yet.

Give Merchant a try someday if you can handle people actually being less-than-apt to PK you. It's a cabal choice that I'll be returning to if I decide to roll another toon.

Is Mr. Yep yep!! because of a faerie invoker toon you used to play back in the day?

Yes, Nethanar was one of my many Faerie Invokers. He later turned Psi Praetorian back in the days of Valadar, Kurvikhel, and Malch's Torment plot. Was given the forum title for finding 73 unique typos within the game during a little competition Malch held.

Anarchant sounds very familiar now that you bring it up... Nexian if I remember correctly?

Yes. He was your "Daddy" and he spanked you often (attacked you but never killed you except once for some reason I don't remember). He always told you he was going to spank you. You would follow him around and perch on his shoulder. Until he was gonna spank you, then you would be an unruly child. Anarchant would yell at you, and try to spank you.

Anarchant was a crazy dude, and a lot of fun to RP.
