Versatile class

TLDR : Looking for a class that equals or rivals the versatility of monks. Would a BLM, Crusader, PSI or Vamp fit the bill?

Hey all. I'm still mostly away since traveling sports are still in full swing, but I've logged on a shelved char to play with a bit now and then. That got me thinking about what I want to play when I have time to devote.

I really enjoyed the versatility of monks, and their ability to handle many different situations fairly well. I guess a monks bane would be a blm, bmg. I did okay vs some and owned by others. They were a bane, but not as bad as some class banes.

Nothing I have played thus far has had the versatility of a monk. I have found that its not so much the class itself I enjoy, but the play style. Monks let me be defensive, offensive, and switch around without completely disengaging. Thus the class kept my interest for longer than any other.

I'm wondering about BLM, and the qclasses. I've never had a qclass, and limited experience with a BLM. Do any of them offer a similar versatility? I also don't want to play something with a big peak vs some and big low vs others. I know FL is balanced around banes... I'd just like to minimize it.

Thanks for any opinions you all can give. I know replies will be vague since my question involves qclasses. My guess is crusader is out (specialization), PSI might be the same?. Not sure on vamps, I've only had a handful of battles with them and its too early to tell.

Having played a Crusader and a Psi I would not say they're versatile in the way you describe. Incredibly powerful, fun, and customizable, but once you pick your skills you generally have a similar gameplan across opponents.

I have played a blademaster (Not a notable one) and they are so versatile it's retarded. You can be all defensive and never get lagged, or spellkill whatever you don't want your enemy to do, go all out damage, use mal game, defensive items or offensive ones... You can do whatever and probably own. Magic resist if you want to be a total c***. :D

Vamps are very versatile. I have never played one, but having fought too many I know they can come at you from many different ways.

Nothing else plays like a monk does sadly.

Cheer up though, Because lots of other classes are wicked fun to play.

Psionics are one of the classes I rate highest for survivability, pk prowess, and viability on gear trips, and solo gearing (depending on what path you take). Crusaders are like an old ragged out muscle car. You get this crappy hunk of junk, sink hours of life and blood into it to get something your genuinely proud of. Vamps are like smoking weed in the bathroom. It can be awesome fun, but alot of bad can happen and it can happen very quickly.

Total agreement about Blademaster for versatility. It's a little tough to find sparring partners, but you can overcome that with time.

If you want versatility right out of the box, try an archer. There are a few combos out there that can negate your arrows (including Blademasters), but you can create a different gameplan for several different foes with this option.

Negative.

Dks are not all that versatile with their weapon selection and combat setups.

I have never as a ranger had my pet turn on me mid combat and bashlock me.

Good DK's won't fight when there's <2 hours of charm person in their affects.

Good DK's will recall immediately if there's danger in this.. 'danger zone'. :P

Paladin should be mentioned. About as versatile as guy can get. Can be the tank. The healer can rescue' date=' summon. Great class.[/quote']

Was just looking through this thread and wondering why it wasn't mentioned...
