A Last Farewell, From Despiser and Martineius

Martineius is deleted. I'm walking away from playing FL.

And, quite frankly, I'm not walking back. Across the nearly

thousand or so hours I have played on Martineius, I have

encountered, quite frankly, the most vitriol and spew I

have ever encountered in five years in FL; but conversely,

I've also had some of the most fun I've had in FL in years.

It's quite sad, considering almost all of the vitriol is

and has come from those considered 'vets' here on the forum,

and all of them, invariably, after they got their asses

beat in one way or another, in some shape or forum. I think

it to be a very telling sign that the type of person leading

the anti-Martineius chants is Zrothum/Dharg, who, as far as

I know, is THE biggest cheater in FL history, having been

banned more times than half the current pbase combined. And

no, this isn't a flame. Ask any IMM whatsoever. Not a single

one can or will deny it.

I've been told, in game, by caballed members, that my character

was 'tweaked' and 'twinked' by the IMM's (exact wording used).

The word 'overpowered', in game, I have heard used directed

towards me more than ten times. I've been cussed at, insulted,

and believe me, I'm not referring to 'friendly' IC insults, but

the one you would punch someone for saying to you IRL.

And oh, yes. I've also been gangbanged repeatedly (never saying

a thing anywhere), and have heard from at least three separate

sources of people trying to organize gangbangs against me. OOC.

These are the type of 'elites', the type of 'vets', who have been

continually spewing vitriol. And it's very sad. Martineius,

quite frankly, in five years at FL, is the ONE character I've

ever played whom, if you don't bother him, wouldn't bother you.

Why did I make Martineius? Because I saw that Tribunal, as a

cabal, needed some help. Because I thought the RP of an intra-

Undead split/war would be interesting and fun. Because I wanted

to make a character that could help newbies. Because I wanted

to try a 'Raistlin' sort of RP; an evil person who, despite being

most assuredly evil, isn't necessary a killer, insane, or evil

'to the core'. Fundamentally, a character just to be FUN, with.

Not just for myself. For those who interacted and who talked

with him.

Evidently, though, despite not knowing Tribunal

powers, I made an 'overpowered combo', to play and take the

game 'hardball to an extreme', not to mention 'get my rocks off'

cheating in PK. Because that's the sort of cheating, scheming,

power gamer I am.

Right.

Have I made some mistakes? Sure have. But I simply think that

it is laughable that my reputation as a player and a character

is assailed for...what? A maybe, maybe not bug that I had

'exploited' accidentally, twice, across nearly a thousand hours

of play?

Right.

I posted earlier, and I stand by it now; that quite frankly,

people who are angry with the character-Who have gotten their

butts kicked over, possibly, multiple characters whom they rolled

up and created JUST to fight me, and lost-seize and bandwagon

on any little mistake to try and scream, "This char is trash!

This player is crap! He's a cheater! A cheater!"

Right.

Tell anyone who's interacted with me, legitimately, that me or

my character is trash, or a cheater.

Like I said, I find it very interesting that the person spearheading

these cheater chants, is literally the biggest cheater of them

all.

Oh, and who happened to call me, amongst other things, on a

previous forum, a "chink dickhead". A grudge against me which

he held, amongst other reasons, for me refusing to help him edit

an essay he was writing explaining how very bad he felt about

a charge of sexual harassment/assault on some chick some time

ago. True story.

Starting to get an idea of exactly why some people are being so

'upright' and 'righteous' over this? OOC and personal grudges.

Very sad, that a few people can and will swap stories OOC, over

AIM, getting very little correct, but believing it, whereas we

who obey the rules, try to avoid OOC contact, are the ones vilified

precisely because the only way we can get our side of the story

out, is by becoming like them.

But I don't want to end on an unhappy note. Despite all of the

definite crap which I have taken, on AIM, on the forum, and yes,

IG, I have definitely had some incredible experiences in this

game, on Martineius; if I didn't, I wouldn't have pulled almost

a thousand hours on the char. There are too many people to say

goodbye to, from Savina to Pominsu to Meridia, and more. So I

will simply say, to all of you, 'Good bye'. And, gentlemen, on

the flip side, smile! There's a good 15'ish rares in circulation

again

My only true regret, in deleting, is that Martineius won't be

there, as I oh-so planned to be, when and if Sachi Oda returned.

Despiser out, this time for good. Peace to the many, the majority,

in fact, I firmly believe, of silent players, who don't cheat,

who don't OOC, and who don't try to tear other players down, and

other players characters down, based on an OOC webring of lies,

deceit, and personal grudges.

Sorry to see you go, Despiser. And I do apologize for that incident, almost two years ago on the unofficial forum. Sorry you think it was because you wouldn't look at the paper, but it was about the political debate that was going on at that time. I haven't talked to you in a long time since all that.

My only complaint against your playing of Marti was the intentional use of lightwalker tribs gainst lightwalker criminals. It was used against me and, on an alternate character, admitted to be intentional.

All in all, a good char. I still think A tribunal Vampire is overpowered, but it was never meant as a personal attack.

Sorry to see you go over these events I actually hated to like Marty, I interacted with you with Kharisa and had some good rp moments/discussions with her, and I truely enjoyed fighting you with Iozui took me a bit of you telling me what I was doing wrong but still had a few good fights, was my first druid and you helped alot. I never really had any complaints about you aside one question I had asked the imms about and was answered. Other then that I loved your rp, and you hunt like a madman. Damn this really sucks your leaving over this bs, our last battle this bug happened as well and it didnt even bother me, cant tell a tribunal not to hunt criminals just because something could or couldnt happen. Also if someone breaks Character and insults you, you should report it to the immortals. That is the kind of thing that spoils the game for all of us.

Personaly i think the idead of a Cabal with Healers/Paladins and Vampires should never exist, unless they can murder themselves continualy.

As it breaks the godies RP. The Good on Good PK from tibunal is another thing, but all of this is not your fault but a choice made by the Immortals.

And your character was overpowered, not because of any special treatment but because he is a Vampire and Vampires are HARD coded to be amazing.

Also i personaly think that your character was not evil but neutral lawfull, and that it should had been outcasted because of forsaking your god.

And i do not say this on a Power level but just on a RP level.

On a Power level it would be awfull and mostly chalanging to have sutch a character.

And again it is a pitty that you have deleted, because you realy achived mutch. With you guarding the city one could actualy be safe inside it.

And the way you convinced people of your non agressiveness was amazing, literaly. I mean you actualy dismotivated most of my character to assault you just by talking.

I loved the interaction I had with you on both of my characters, and though I have been removed so I can not play, I honestly feel I wont be back. I dont miss it anymore.

You helped me learn to pk, albeit slightly, you helped show me that there are no limits or boundries to RP. Rp is all in the imagination.

I am honestly sorry for all the crud you got either IC or OOC, I felt bad each time I read something about or flaming you. (Even though I didnt know it was you)

You still have to keep in touch and come visit me though or I'll find you and kick your a$$!

Wo-ow. That pretty much sums it up. I've known you since I started back in 2.0 and watched all your chars turn out to be kick *** success's(sp). I can say without a doubt, in my opinion, you are the foundation of FL that outlasted Viri and Crypt. The rock, the heart, the ideal player. FL was as much yours as any of the IMP's and in a way, it is almost as if you are giving up your baby just as Viri did when he pursued EA.

Awesome, awesome job with Martin. He was played as well as he could be in my eyes. Perfect everything, and FL really needed to see a char such as him. He was amazing, just like many of your other projects.

Good luck at UC bro. Study hard, do good, and excel just as you have here. If you put half the amount of energy you graciously gave this game.. you can do anything.

I agree whole-heartedly. Pure trash brews from overzealous players caught in some desire for revenge, plotting and scheming through out of character AIM rings.

While playing Ceqia, I saw how many players there were rolling up rangers and Watchers and ninjas and Syndicate members with the soul desire to assassinate, wage war with, and flat out kill (without ANY real thought or concern to RP, that being character design or development) Tribunals. I shared some, though not nearly as much persecution as Martineius, and only toward the end, some people came out of the wood works and finally began to accept and work with the role play that he had established.

Every time Martineius would log on, every outlaw (save but a select tad) would bash ‘quit’ into their client. It was nothing greater than heart-wrenchingly, to-the-brink-of-crying lame. Didn’t anyone feel guilty designing characters after plotting on AIM to eliminate Martineius? I can’t help but smile at the fact that Martineius took a handful of egos and crushed them like stale Oreos.

The best part was that despite all that silliness (what with the OOC rings), Martineius still demolished everyone. And when all those players that got their hopes up got their asses handed to them on a golden platter, they couldn’t help but whine.

I am almost ready to quit myself, as Despiser was one of the few people left that displayed the maturity levels required to create a truly fun gaming environment. I knew this would happen eventually, as the out of character bias and bitchiness witnessed and endured in game played a large part of my own Tribunal’s deletion.

Had a lot of cool talks with Korock, and Legaro (I attacked your policies and wrote some notes and attacked you a lot and stuff for interaction, not cause I hated your char). The best character I've interacted with. Minimal interaction I'll admit, but excellent. I found your IC logic flawless, and until today I thought your OOC patience boundless. Turns out it wasn't, but it was still much, much farther-reaching than almost any of the rest of us can say.
