And forcing people to vote is terrible as well. Not only is it a violation of a person's individual freedoms, but the people you'd be forcing would typically be less educated and more prone to vote for the candidate with better face time.... i.e. more money.

I believe everyone should have a voice regardless of their background. Not saying you don't, but you sound awful cynical about the deal. I try to believe if people are forced to make a choice they will always inform themselves of the choice.

And if the only way to get those people to vote is to make them, so be it. But that's just a personal opinion. Probably wouldn't work well in practice (just like I think a mandatory military service much like Israel should be implemented).

Yes, but part of having a voice is being able to remain silent when you choose to. Forcing someone to vote is forcing them to say something when they may prefer to remain quiet.

And I hadn't started paying attention to election results until now, inscribed. ;) Was too busy finishing Assassin's Creed 3, which I thoroughly enjoyed... I'd give it around an 8.8 out of 10.

Well, voluntarily signing a contract knowing full well what my obligations would be, in exchange for pre-negotiated pay and benefits (both stated and unstated), is a perfect example of how things should work, especially in an autarchy. It'd be something different if I was forced into the military.

In my case, the benefits I'd be able to accumulate was worth the six years I'd have to put in to obtain them. :)
