If so, anyone any good? Also, anyone ever play Virtual Pool 64, on...nintendo...64? That game owns.
Zrothum
I play alot of 9-ball.
crackwilly21
9 ball owns. Although you should try six ball...same concept, faster, more competitive games. Good way to win money if you've got the break and can run the rack. (piece of cake)
Zrothum
Don't play as often as I'd like or as I used to. A shame, I was pretty good.
crackwilly21
I'm working on force/resistance draw/draw/english/and Masse' the latter being the hardest. But its so cool to watch that cue ball curve around the table like that...*wink*
Zrothum
Masse is a beautiful thing when you pull it in front of alot of beautiful women who aren't too good at billiards. It's gotten me "fun times at night" with quite a few unexpecting young ladies.
crackwilly21
Word. Masse done correctly for some sad reason = no lonley night.
Zrothum
English is pretty simple to get ahold of. Masse is obviously the toughest on the list to perfect.
crackwilly21
Do you know how to use force? Top english on the ball will push through after a break, or a straight on shot?
Chayesh
Top left or Top right english will drive through and pocket the corner ball.
crackwilly21
Word Chay, word. Anyone know about the "corkscrew break" Where you spin your cue as soon as you contact the cue ball? It puts crazy english on the ball and will actually "break twice" It will drive through the ball, and come back, then drive through a second time to send the balls flying. This also works with extreme top english. Btw, I'm not humping my topic or anything, I'm just at work, extremely bored, and itching to go to the bar. Chayesh
I shot a lot more pool before my dog ate my cue. Another ChaosHound in full effect. Guess I'll have to break the Budweiser classic cue out of storage.
crackwilly21
Ehehe, I just play with bar cues...I trust my brad cue tip scuffer...never fails me. Even the most crooked stick in the bar still does me justice. *wink*
Deykari
I play quite a bit. I don't rate our local bars and pubs tables so if I want to play serious I go to our pool-hall. I play mostly straight/nine-ball, but have been known to dabble in the exotic on very rare occassions. I'm no master but for English/Masse, both in theory are easy concepts to grasp, but english is easy to pull off with a bit of practice. I've never really tried to masse-it-up but the few times I have it's all ended in tears as far as pulling it off with any degree of success. At least for practical reasons anyway, no point in being able to curve the whiteball about if you can't use it in-game IMO. (trickshots and ****waving aside, obviously ) I've seen some really sick masse shots on some videos on youtube (some with slow FPS could well be fake though) and it's be something I'd like to do (but can't). Zrothum
Force - hit the top of the cue ball on a long shot and it will "push" forward, following your object ball. Do it on a break, hard enough, and the ball will jump as it tries to "push" through the entire set, but it can't and is left with nowhere to go but up. Deykari
Oh, I don't deny it has practical purposes. What I mean is, it takes a lot of time to pull it off, and a lot more time to be able to pull it off in a practical game. With some effort and practice, any dedicated player can set up a trick masse shot but it takes skill to be able to apply it to a random, actual game. Hats off to anyone who can even do it a bit. Zrothum
Heh. I pulled them quite often in tournaments and such. Probably a 30% chance of me making the shot, but it would get me out of a forced ball in hand sometimes.
crackwilly21
Word, I land masse' often enough to consider it. I don't do many trick shots, as I'd rather shoot a game in a competition and make some money off of it. I've landed a few masse' shots that would have otherwise given the opponent ball in hand or if I didn't make a move then, would have lost the game... Masse, Learn it, love it, use it! Guest emp_newb
queing your break at right side aiming for lead ball and second ball with slight top right is the easiest eight ball break to sink the eight with. But for the most part Masse can lick my arse. I prefer to bank over masse', more control IMHO. But Masse is a nice attention getter really. My game is usually 8 ball. I hate the fact I can run a rack, and say I **** up a long green cut, they can have the game all gift wrapped. 8 ball is more dependant on your own skill really.
